£20m?? Did I hear that correctly?

Johnson just showed what he thinks of us.

He could have just stuck with the 60mill but no, a northerner was getting all above his station. Know your place northern scum. Well fukk you Johnson and fukk the shills and apologists on here who support him openly or by undermining any opposition.

**** Tories and anyone who votes for them from now on

Viva la revolution

Andy Burnham absolutely nails it. Surely this charade about being a party for the North is proving a complete and utter lie.

Those who loaned their votes to the Tories need to see this for what it is. No more blame game, no more division. We need to stand together to bring down this horrendous government who have nothing but contempt for us in the North.

Posturing or wanting the best for his constitutents?

What a ridiculous thing to say. The government had £60m at lunchtime and now doesn't as a punishment and you blame Burnham. Glad the people of Manchester don't agree with you.
He certainly didn’t get the best for his constituents, that’s for sure.

£22M. Try and isolate him and pick off individual councils.
Hope everyone realises that £22mill. is almost £30mill less than Johnson spaffed on a bridge that never even got built.

Yep. Its effectively an assault on northern city regions.

Wait til they do the same to Tees Valley next week, then we'll all be on the same page! It will be this government's miners' strikes moment.
I'm sure it was said the money offered was for business and was in proportion to that which Liverpool and Lancashire received. Do any of us really know of have any clue what is required to get us through this mess in financial terms. There are always winners and losers, and the poor will always suffer no matter who runs the s+++t show.
Please don't mention the miners strike because I clearly remember the steel unions failing to back them as a t*t for tat reaction to the miners not supporting the steelworkers strike. Violent protest is not the answer.
I really hope you are wrong on this.

I never mentioned violence. But in terms of the 'us and them' feeling this will create between northern city regions and the Tory government. I hope the people of Redcar et al will be seeing the light at the next election!

I dont want to sound alarmist, but continuing this sort of contempt shown by this muppet show is going to manifest itself in some large scale disquiet, today may be the catalyst, who knows
I think you may be right , and it will certainly bring to light the Tories cuts to the police force.

How much was your Poll Tax last year?

I hope the original offer is reinstated and common sense prevails. I think someone mentioned they are setting an example which I understand. If everytime they want to move an area to tier 3 they lose weeks as they have to negotiate then I don’t agree with that.

Do you think they would set an example of it was happening with a mayor of the Home Counties?

Offered 60M to Manchester.
Andy Burnham costed need for 75 M untill end of tier 3 lockdown projected by Govt.
Compromise?
GOVT TELL MANCHESTER THEY ARE GETTING 20M AFTER OFFERING 60M!

Boris playing with peoples lives and jobs like rolling the dice at a casino.
Better to know thy enemy as an enemy, not as thy friend.

“Know the enemy and know yourself; in a hundred battles you will never be in peril. When you are ignorant of the enemy, but know yourself, your chances of winning or losing are equal. If ignorant both of your enemy and yourself, you are certain in every battle to be in peril.”

I think they will follow the same approach for the first couple in the hope that everyone then complies. (I would hope they do this whichever area it is)I’m not saying any of this is right but from a selfish/personal point of view I don’t want to see weeks of negotiations Each time some area is moved to tier 3 as it it will increase the risk and make the lockdown less effective.

Seems like there's plenty of cowards on here who are happy to go for No Deal when they think the EU is 'bullying us' - but it's all fine and dandy when the British government vindictively takes away £38m from its own citizens.

Being a patriot is about caring about your fellow citizens, not how much jizz you can put into a pint pot after looking at a picture of spitfire.

It’s amazing that when ever a socialist dares to oppose this government they are labelled as “politicising” matters that shouldn’t be.

If the left fail to oppose the government they are labelled as failures in opposition.

johnson’s decision today is disgusting, it’s needless, childish and petty. It is going to lead to social unrest. It’s been coming for almost a decade, if London starts to see rises in cases and increased lockdown measures, I think that will be the spark.

There doesn't need to be weeks of negotiations or even days. Boris is the prime minister, and has the power to implement these zones. He just doesn't have the b***ks, because he doesn't want to upset anybody, especially his supporters.
Don't forget there were 9 Tory MP's and a council leader backing Andy Burnham here. It was not a political stance. It was totally bi-partisan.
