Liverpool and Man Utd in secret

Don't see it happening. They're trying to create leverage for their next domestic power grab.

Domestic TV rights are worth more. 5 billion Vs 4 billion in the latest 3 year cycle.
Domestic rights have however dropped, while overseas have grown, and I'm sure it's the potential for growth which has piqued the interest of the yanks.

Why not ship Utd hook line and sinker to Dubai or New York or somewhere. Franchise em. Give their place in the premier league to FC United.

According to people close to the latest plans, the European Premier League would not be a breakaway in the sense of ending clubs' involvement in their domestic leagues.

Will enough people pay to watch yet more football to pay for this? How much football is too much? Would fans want to pay to watch over 70 games per season, assuming that the above part of the article is correct? Where is the saturation point?

Couple a things I noted when I watch TV

1) Sky are absolutely loving this in the half hour since I put SSN on its been on about 5 times.

2)There is going to be up to 18 teams. So say that they come from 6 countries that would be three from each I assume. We will have Man Ure, Victimpool, Spuds, The ****, Chelski, and Citeh all vying to say they are top dogs to ensure they are on of the teams included in the inaugural league that's apparently pencilled in to start in 2022.

3)The teams in the inaugural league cannot be relegated for 20 years. WTF is that about. 20 Years is a long time in football who's to say who will be top teams then. Also say if Man Ure, Citeh and Victimpool get in its severely going to put the nose out of the other P.L teams.

4)If there is no relegation for 20 years how quick will it become stale.

5)If it comes off I can see them setting up their own TV rights so that's even more expense to the settee fans and more revenue to the clubs widening gulf even further. Wild horse wouldn't get me to pay a penny towards it.

6)Gary Neville spoke a lot of sense but after that I was sick of it and turned it off.

No relegation? The most exciting bit of the Premier is usually the desperate scramble to avoid the drop at the end of the season rather than the boring procession of one team to the title.
