Andy Burnham fighting back against the govt

Stopped the Tories in their tracks this week. Either they pay what they should for the furlough or it won’t happen it’s simple as that- rates have actually fallen in greater Manc yet they still want to put us in tier 3. It’s typical nonsense from this government.

He seems to have stopped Starmer in his tracks too. I have just seen Sir Keir interviewed on BBC Newcastle news and he wants a shutdown, calling it a circuit breaker, of all of England because "Coronavirus is increasing everywhere ".
Keir and the Manchester mayor didn't seem to be "singing from the same hymn book ".

That’s exactly what Burnham said- that the evidence is for a full lockdown not piecemeal like we’re getting. Fully off the same hymn sheet.

Exactly this! Rates have fallen! It is so embarassing to see them desperately clinging on to this nonsense of exponential growth! ha ha

Burnham wants adequate financial arrangements to be made prior to lockdown. Has Starmer contested that?

Starmer is utterly useless. I had high hopes yet he wants to "lockdown" Northern cities, bonkers. All he does is agree with the government.

The current graphs for London are a sight to behold.......

Burnham calling on other cities to join Manchester in it's fight.

Tick tock..

All Burnham has to do is hold his nerve! This whole sorry sh**show will come crashing down. I'm in Notts and my MP is still banging on about "track and trace" (slaps head)

And all while they're trying to cook the books. 67 people admitted in the whole of London on the 12th. Luckily there are people keeping a close eye on them.

I think it makes perfect sense to have local lockdown in areas where you've got higher infection rates. The tiered system also seems sensible. Having local leaders saying that they're going to fight it will just make local people ignore the rules, and things will get worse. It seems a risky one to kick back against.

Sadiq Khan seems to be taking a much more sensible approach, fully supporting greater locking down in London. (Despite the fact that some parts of London have much higher rates of infection than others).

Mnchester should have taken the controls more seriously. Burnham wouldn't have been in this position. "We messed up now we want paying for it" The numbers speak for themselves.
