Me and my boy are in the papers today

Yes - probably one reason we did so well is because most other growers can't be done with the hassle - 2 hours a day, every day from May-Sept!
Without giving all your growing secrets away, what do you do for two hours a day with a pumpkin?

That is some dedication from the pair of you, especially when there is other jobs to do on the farm.

It's on an allotment, not a farm, that's the guy with the marrows :)

In answer to your question; any or a combination of pruning, vine burying, fertiliser/fungicide/insecticide prep & application, foliar spraying, watering pH & EC management, logging all the info & variables and all the equipment preparation and cleaning up afterwards! Then there's the time spent just thinking about it all, and what to do next. It never ends, but it's what I do (y)

I'm the same about the garden. I say I don't do much and then you think about the hours you put in pricking out seedlings, weeding, dead heading, feeding, watering, etc. and you have spent hours. When we are sat in the garden, if I see a weed, I can't relax. I am like that in everyone's garden.

Does the soil make a difference.i live @ 41N new York city location. Lots of pumpkins are grown here. We tried this year . We have the plant which must be over 12 feet long but we didn't get one pumpkin. Any thoughts? We did manage to grow sunflowers on the same patch of land.

You should be able to grow one on most soils but the richer the better, didn't you get any flowers on the plant? There are loads of growers in the US, have a look at www.bigpumpkins.com :)
