I normally go to the pub on a Wednesday but....

I normally meet my pals on a Wednesday for a pint and a natter. As I understand things at the moment, I can go to the pub with my family but I cannot go the pub and sit with my friends. Am I understanding correctly or have I missed something?

I think you'd all need to be in the pub separately. I'm going for a few beers tonight. Going by myself but might happen to be at an adjacent/2m away table to someone I know.

Thanks Central. That means 4 separate tables. I can't see how a pub can survive if that is the case.

We only venture to the pub on a Friday now, but that's how it is in our local, 6 tables with 7 people (me and mrs on same table) in the (quite small, but socially distanced) bar

Just back from the pub
Huge marquee outside with heaters on. Reallly toasty, waitress service - a couple or pints of Timmy T’s landlord.

The beauty of living in a county with low cases and deaths.
Shame, and IMO, daft its all going to be busted with another lockdown

That’s politics though

It's temporary and not as bad as some are making out. The lack of loud music means you can actually chat to those around you without shouting, and table service should have been introduced years ago, it's just more civilised.

That‘s a very good point ref table service. My local (proper pub) has done everything right. They have invested loads in comfortable warm outside space (close them circa £10k). The have had loads more punters but not needed extra staff.
Worked a dream for them and us - shame they are going to be kicked in the nuts again

Its strange, the other night my wife and I booked a table for two in our local and when we got there ,3 other couples who we normally sit with, were all sat 2m from us and each other. Spooky or what.

I’ve got it sussed, plane out of the country Monday morning.

Be dusting the bike down when I get there. Not sure about burpees though 😉

No it is as bad as people are making it out to be.
My place of work is in tier 1 but we've had to cut staff hours in half.
Those are staff with bills to pay and kids to feed.

The model all over the country is not sustainable in the long run without extra financial support from Rishi.

That is why councils are asking to be placed into tier 3, so that they are getting the support for the employees, when places are asked to close.

The above is London. And Sadiq Khan wants to "lockdown". The guy is a lunatic!

Randy, some people are happy in this #newnormal. Bonkers. I went to a pub after work. Could only order by QR code, could obviously sit down and chat loudly without a mask but had to put one on to walk to the toilet. Nuts.

I'm not sure anybody's happy, just handling it differently to you.

There's quite a few not so enamoured with the 'old normal' you're longing for.
