Steve Gibson Supports the New Proposals for the League Shake Up According to the Telegraph.

Domestically, I don't believe that is true. Leeds, Villa, Newcastle for example are all better-supported clubs in this country than Tottenham and City.

But if we're talking solely about overseas telly money, then yes.

Yeah, sorry - the money these days comes from China, Asia, Middle and Far East
Domestic revenue is insignificant in the scheme of things

He will be exasperated but not surprised that the Premier League appear to be stepping back and allowing EFL clubs to go to the wall. I suppose clubs are likely to fold one at a time. First another Macclesfield and then a Bury. Sad but life goes on. What would it need for them to act? A big club to announce it was failing? Nottingham Forest, Derby or Sheff Wed on the edge? Or for the League as a whole to say we have to stop as we cannot afford to continue?
But even then you head Sean Dyche, won't they just say we have our own problems. Very sorry. But it is what it is. And less competition for our tv and crowds.
Maybe Stoke and Middlesbrough are under real threat here. Two of the better run clubs with local chairmen. That is a big warning sign.
Could this project force a response? Or will it be the start of a landslide engulfing football and leaving only a chosen few surviving and communities everywhere counting the cost.
I would completely understand Dyche and Burnley holding that view.

Which shows you where the decision making is actually coming from.

People think that this interest from Asia is set in stone and will be around forever - I think the Ozil deletion saga in China tells you that they are taking a huge gamble. All it takes is for those telly companies to switch off and advertise a different sport. Fandom isn't everything to fans from Asia - they could switch teams/leagues/countries in a heartbeat.

The Americans won't think twice about taking this gamble of course - they'll soon switch sports/countries themselves if the money dries up.

Have Tottenham and City had attendances drop to the low teens like it was at Newcastle before Keegan?

Can you recall where did you read that?
Hi Cardiff.
Neil was asked [on talksport] about the idea of prem clubs having their "B" teams in the champo: to which he replied "dont ask me about bloody B teams". (y) That was on Friday - prior to the announcement of the ManuPool League power-grab over the weekend.

Yes. Answered subsequently

It will always be a major trophy, Everton don't think any less of their 85 Cup Winners Cup just because that has now been scrapped.

Bet they do.
But it's not an exact comparison.

The Cup Winners Cup was effectively replaced by what is now the Europa League, there's a sense of continuation.

The League Cup would be replaced by nothing.

This Government is forcing companies out of business by choice.
Last night there was Ballet at Covent Garden.
There was a concert at the Southbank Centre.
Football clubs at local level -[not sure what tier it is] have been allowed to have fans in this week.
Then there is the concert at the Albert Hall where 3000 people are being allowed to attend.

Yet open air stadiums are not allowed to have paying customers through the gate - where a pre booked ticket and designated access and cleansing points have demonstrably worked. The Albert Hall has narrow entrances and exit points.

Just who the hell is making these decisions? Which other sector is being deliberately strangled by the Government? Even the "Arts" [according to a report on Radio 4] have been awarded funds to stave off closure.
