Can somebody tell me why Stockton isn't in lock down ?

Stockton have an MP that is a Tory
One might be but the other Stockton north certainly isn’t.

Stockton suffers from a lack of identity as it’s just too big and covers too many conflicting interests and demographics billingham to yarm its massive covering countless towns in between and so never really agrees on any thing.

Norton
Billingham
Yarm
Eaglescliffe
Thornaby
Stockton
Etc

All towns/villages in their own right with huge shopping areas pubs etc

You missed Ingleby Barwick, again massive in it’s own right.

@T_A_D

Something is amiss. This is the first pandemic I'm aware of that shut down the world although I imagine the black death did too.

I don't even get the logic of trying not to lock down Tory voted seats, because you're making it safer for non-Tory voters and killing off their own base?

I'm assuming the original point is to keep giving 'freedom' to their voters, but it's just stupidity.

Normally if a policy is corrupt there’s a clear beneficiary and the sub-text reason is obvious, in the situation of local lockdown punitive measures to areas to Labour supporting areas would seem to be the answer, however when you look deeper it’s the areas themselves, in most cases, that have requested additional measures so it’s all a bit unusual as to what the bigger picture is and who really stands to gain, but I’m sure someone somewhere is....

Thats exactly what i said the other day when a thread about this was raised. Why would they let the virus run a mock in their traditional voting areas basically killing and annoying their supporter base while saving the opposition areas via a lockdown

Can't be anything do do with politics surely...must just be good old fashioned INCOMPETENCE ?

It might have to do with the Stockton area having a larger population and a much larger area?

So less cases per person and less cases per area?

It's a bit daft though because they should just be treat as one, as so many people live in Stockton and work in Boro and visa versa.

It's like how in Boro (based on 1st to 7th October), Beechwood & James Cook has 7 cases, and Linthorpe East & Albert Park has 59 cases. They're treat the same (rightly so, as they're so close). Ingleby, Yarm, Stockton, Boro, South Boro etc, all need to be treat as one. They're too close, soo close where they can't not impact each other.

Ingleby West had 61 and Central Stockton, Portrack & Low Hartburn had 39, which is a lot, yet Thornaby and the bit in-between main Stockton, Ingleby and Boro, apparently doesn't have a lot.

There's no way on earth this lot of dark blue is not all intermixed/ intermixing with the light blue/ uncoloured:

It is not about public health anymore. I am not sure what motives are at play but it is a sorry state of affairs.
Indeed. And the question has to arise - when was it about public health in the first place? If this was ever the case, when did this stop? I imagine the whole thing will be another Chilcot finished in a couple of decades' time.

Like everywhere else in the country then?

Stockton Borough is an administrative area, that's all.

Identity FFS. Leave the buzzwords alone.

Stockton-on-Tees - the defacto capital of TEESside (y)(y)

A bit like Greater Manchester, Greater London, etc - but better (y)

If you have two areas next to each other and lockdown one but not the other both areas will benefit. Both from the reduction of transmission and from the relief to shared health services.

If you lockdown both, there's less inter transmission from two towns (which are pretty much one town), which will massively increase the chance of having a massively reduced effect on the whole area. If the whole area gets better, and they do the same in other similar places, then the governments $hit track and trace system might stand a chance.

Does anyone honestly actually consider Ingleby, Stockton, Boro, Thornaby, Coulby, Marton etc like different places, with obvious boundaries? Everyone literally shares the same shopping places, work places, schools, football club, sports clubs, bars etc. Surely somebody must realise this?
