Nigel Farage has threatened to start an anti-lockdown party as he criticises Boris Johnson's draconian measures to curb the rise in coronavirus cases.
The Brexit Party leader heaped pressure on the Prime Minister, saying the current restrictions are a threat to freedom.
He told The Times: 'We stood aside for Boris Johnson's government, now many are questioning why we bothered

This slimy ,odious piece of sh it will do/ say absolutley anything to try to
stay relevant...

Nigel F doesn't seem to realise that there is a diffence between sticking his nose into a trading agreement and interfering with the running of measures against a pandemic which is costing people's lives.

Problem is that these (lockdowns) could go on for years — people are showing fatigue not to mention jobless numbers are climbing exponentially as businesses fail. This isn’t just apparent in the UK but also across Asia where the mask culture has been in place for decades—not to mention the homeless situation is at pandemic levels.

Only trouble is, you just know he's going to get a lot of support.

As Dominic Cummings' frontman Boris has lurched to the right Farage seems to have decided to chase the socially hard right support lately
He left UKIP saying they were becoming Islamophobic didnt he?
Suddenly he seems to have been moving to the outer fringes with all this posturing in Dover, hotels etc and now this

Bit worrying that there will be plenty of knuckle draggers willing to follow him

Dangerous character.
He claims hes "skint", but you dont meet Donald Frump and get wined and dined across the world on fresh air.
Its not him - its what he represents.
Unlike Yaxley Lennon who is a thug - Farage is a thug in a suit.
He has friends with access to all media platforms and opportunities to broadcast his bile at the click of a finger.
His press releases, speeches, daily arrangements and engagements are more accessible than a macdonalds.
Its by no means fortuitous that Farage is in the right place every time.
As with the brilliant journalism of Woodwood and Bernstein "Follow the money" seems to be the key to Farage.

Farage is a populist politician with a cult of personality following, he’s not actually interested in power, as such, his natural home is as a safe seat Home Counties 1922 Conservative, but he enjoys being a big fish in a small pond too much and doesn’t appear keen on actual responsibility, offering few alternatives beyond wanting something different and nothing on the minutiae of execution.

He’s done very well to raise his profile to the extent he has and rightly or wrongly is often credited for things that he seems peripheral rather than central to. I would say he’s more of a pressure group or lobbyist politician with a single issue being his focus rather than offering a broader political philosophy his seems closely aligned with the right of the Conservative Party.

How is being against Draconian laws (which is what they are, even if they are necessary which is highly debatable) socially far right?

I speak to a lot of people maybe 1 out of every 10 are in anyway right wing. None of them support what's happening and all question lockdown.

Draconian - Draco was a Greek legislator who brought in a system of laws and attendant punishments that were severe with forced slavery or death for quite minor offences. Not sure where he would have stood on having to wearing a face mask in the Co-op.

A dangerous man who has been used by the far right of the Conservative party and ultra far right 1922 loonies. Sections of the BBC ensured his racist ideals are promoted. Be interesting to see his supporters on here stuck for words. Farage needs taking down before more people die.

Its the same logic which rests on the basic tenant that the "Establishmen"t has an agenda to control the population - using Covid as a cover.
The logic continues that the "Establishment" represents a few powerful individuals whos aim is to destroy "freedom"(?!).
Hitler used world Judaism in his equasion - the bankers who were ruling undemocratically by virtue of their power.
The right are using the same logic.
The dichotomy is, the right - whilst using "anti-establishment" rhetoric to "defend" "freedom" are at the same time demanding police and army on the streets, suspension of civil liberties and protests like BLM / etc.
The dialectic of contradictions means they are a dangerous explosive force which implodes then reappears elsewhere.
The fuel is fear and ignorance.
The question is then: who benefits from this fear and ignorance?
