Because travellers are victims of racial stereotyping etc.

C'mon man. Travellers have well and truly earned their reputations.

Hopefully we still live in a world were you can call bull**** when you see it.

I guess sweeping generalisations like that are part of the reason for the march. Travellers have lots of different background and communities. Quite a number are respectful and cause little bother for anyone else.

It's like saying everyone in Middlesbrough is a massive racist after that daft lass ripped up the Koran a few years back.

I don't think anyone doubts that there's an element that give them a bad name but as said above many are normal people whodon't deserve to be generalised. There's a traveller family who have a couple of kids at the same school as mine, they're nice people and run a business that's well respected in the area.

So if a group of them parked next to your house i suppose you would give them the benefit of the doubt because they may be nice people?

Nonsense, you would be strait on the phone to get them moved on.

Do you think its justifiable to march through a town with no distancing during these times to prove a point that not all travellers are bad people? It was mentioned above that its like saying everyone in boro is racist because of the woman ripping up the Koran, well would you think a march againt it would be justified at this time? I doubt it.

I myself know traveller families that are good people too but these are people who have jobs, send their kids to school and pay taxes. The march is to signify that there is racist discrimination against travellers but the fact is, people only actually have a problem with the criminal element (which there is an abundance of).

This particular march actually stemmed from groups of travellers being turned away from pubs and bars. Mostly because the pubs and bars are fed up with the constant aggro that follows.

I agree that there are good traveller folk in this country, but to hold a march in these current conditions as if they are a racially oppressed group is ridiculous. People are wary of travellers for good reason. The groups that do actually 'travel' segredate themselves from society and yet complain about being treat differently.

Anyway, its an opinion and only an opinion. If 'good' travellers feel persecuted for no reason then fine, raise the issue but marching through a town during a pandemic as if no traveller has ever done anything to warrant their reputation is just nonsense.

you’ve you satisfied yourself while the march is necessary.

‘But I’m only talking about the ones that don’t work’

you couldn’t make it up....

You’ve also gone away from the main point that you didn’t think it was justified, to now if they want to make a point they shouldn’t be protesting.

Girlfriend and sister are both police, mental health and travellers on the rob make up about 90% of their time. That’s a fact.

There are some genuinely ok travellers, my sister went to some that had been robbed and she took the boy some Pokemon cards as some scum bag had broken in and nicked his and he was in tears. They caught the bloke who was also a traveller so they will even rob from their own.

I think the ones who are quick to defend them wouldn't want 200 living in a field opposite were they live😂

They leave an absolute trail of carnage and disgusting 'remains'. Fly tipping / human and animal sh*t / used toilet paper / the fields themselves are ruined with tyre tracks and mud and usually things tend to go 'missing' in the night.

I get that some are absolutely sound. The issue is that the more that come the more carnage follows. You wonna see what it's like when they descend on Appleby for the fare😕. If it ain't locked down it gets nicked. Also all the road sides are just strewn with rubbish and sh*t.

They have a reputation for a reason. It's not just made up😂

Try living in Darlo. I believe one or two posters (certainly from the old board) live there. I lived there for 10 years and they were/are a law unto themselves. My friend went to the East End Club last week. Full of travellers as usual, chairs being pulled up to tables so that large groups can sit together, no rules being followed as "they were a load of rubbish".
Businesses in Yarm close down when the fair is there. See the state of Urlay Nook road after they have finished camping there. Guess who pays for the cleaning up? Not the travellers. It is the same every year on all roads leading to Appleby. A farmer I know of near Barnard Castle was threatened with having his barn burned down if he didn't allow the travellers to camp in his field.
Look at the drives of the houses where travellers live in Darlo. Great big caravans, all new. Yet these people don't seem to be working. Some of them are probably decent people but they are far outnumbered by those who are not so.
They have a reputation that is well and truly deserved.

Did you know Albert Einstein was a traveller/gypsy?
This is the second time I've seen you post this on here. Yet when I google it I can find only one quote that where he says:
"Oppenheimer is not a gypsy like me," Einstein told Fantova. "I was born with the skin of an elephant; there is no one who can hurt me.".

He doesn't mean that he is literally a gypsy in the way people on here are calling travellers gypsy. Einstein's family were Jewish.

Fury's family seemed ok on their reality tv appearance. But when his wife says (words to the effect) "kids shouldn't go to school. it's a waste of time", is that tongue in cheek or serious?
If, as people are happy to point out , there is a majority of 'good' travellers, why don't they distance themselves from the bad ones and call them out, instead of defending the indefensible, to their own cost?

A friend of mine allowed some travellers to tie up their horse on some land he owned. It was just outside of his gated factory. On the night the travellers broke through the fence and stole a load of steel work. It was caught on CCTV. when he approached the travellers, the guy basically just told him it was his fault and he didn't make his site secure enough. "If I can take it, I will" was the answer. He told the traveller that he had been nice to him and let him tie up his horse and that he'd even put food and water out for it. The traveller didnt care in the slightest.

I was told this just the other week by someone and didn’t really have any reason to doubt what he was saying. I’ll have a little trawl around the internet to see if I can find anything more than what you did and let you know.
