I immediately thought of Acquiesce by Oasis, which in my mind is the best thing they've ever done and was only the B-side to Some Might Say.

Almost but not quite: the Stone Roses' fools gold was supposed to be the B side to what the world is waiting for. The record company refused to release it that way given how much better fools gold and the band typically refused to let wtwiwf be a b side, so it was released as a double a side
