Fantastic that,
Our late dad worked there in the 70's and 80's
Proper hell hole by the sounds of it, some serious accidents and deaths because of safety issues.
First time I have ever seen the site from those angles
Me too. Was part of the Davy McKee team that designed and built the 14m dia. blast furnace. In the late 60s when BSC agreed to build a new iron making facility on Teesside, the originally study was for 4 identical blast furnaces side by side. There was a second 14m dia. blast furnace designed and manufactured but it was decided to install it at Port Talbot. It was never built but used as spares for relines and rebuilds at Redcar. It breaks my heart to see it now, and the state it is in.
