Eat out to spread the virus scheme

It’s a virus. It spreads.
You can stay in doors as long as you want but, unless you have a vaccine, it will continue to be there when you come out.
It doesn’t go round the houses and say ‘bahhhh, no one is out on the streets, I’m off to france’,
Although I used the scheme like most people, it does look slightly crackpot in hindsight, encouraging people to go out more than usual and then acting surprised when cases go up and having to make a load more new rules up on the spot that can’t be policed.

It seemed crackpot when they announced it. Absolutely crazy. The short term benefits it brought will probably be way less than the longer term negative effects.

I only know 2 ppl who used it, when you saw video and pics of Sushak promoting it serving meals at tables in a fairly crowded restaurant without face covering and without gloves and a covidiot smile on his face it just summed up the ignorance of those in power about the whole pandemic like Johnson's handshaking, Hancocks lack of social distancing in the HOC, Raab licking his fingers between turning pages of his speech, Williamson taking his mask off to shake hands etc. They're clueless at everything besides culling the population and fiddling the stats.

You can't argue with any of that mate

Didn't see anyone complaining at the time....
That’s why I said in hindsight. I’m not saying we should have all been stuck at home still, or that I was against it (you perhaps foolishly “trust” these people to know what they’re doing, to at least a very basic level), but in Manchester we had partial lockdown yet were being actively encouraged to eat out for a month. I’d have at least hoped the government had planned for the resultant spike. Doesn’t look like they did!

Fair enough guys but it did prop up the restaurant business and save jobs.
Loads of people not wearing masks in shops in Boro with zero enforcement....more of an issue for me !

This government don't do planning I'm afraid, they just stumble from day to day.

It was more the timing of it. In finished just before everyone went back to school, it give the virus a leg up at the wrong time

Like the first wave does anything make much difference , other countries experiencing second waves and they had different policies. It seems to make little difference in the grand scheme of things.
Yup, Spain seeing big increases despite their lockdown being much stricter than ours...

All those bells booking tables up with a bottle of wine to boot

That went well. Boris Johnson
It's the selfish, idiots that have escalated this virus, you can blame the government as much as you want to, but if people can't take responsibilities then I'm afraid we're in this for the long haul
