Blackburn Rovers close in on deal for free agent defender
Rovers’ search for a defender could finally reach a positive conclusion with Tony Mowbray’s patience having seemingly paid off with a deal for Daniel Ayala close.
There remains understandable caution until Ayala has signed on the dotted line given how close a deal was earlier this month only for a club in a Saudi Arabia to make late move for the 29-year-old former Middlesbrough man.
However, those talks have now gone cold giving Rovers the chance to revisit a deal for the free agent defender who has been among their top targets all summer.
The move could happen quickly given a medical had already been carried out, with a three-year deal thought to be in the offing.
It is understood Ayala would be forced to quarantine should the deal be completed after spending time outside of the country which put a delay to any proposed debut.

Daniel Ayala's move to Blackburn Rovers has been resurrected, according to reports
Daniel Ayala's move to Blackburn Rovers has been resurrected after talks over a move to Saudi Arabia stalled.
According to the Lancashire Telegraph, the ex- Middlesbrough centre-back is close to signing a three-year deal with Tony Mowbray's side, although there is still some scepticism in Lancashire.
That's because Ayala had been close to joining Blackburn earlier in the summer, even completing a medical at the club, before interest from the Middle East scuppering the deal.
