Gibson signs for Norwich - move on

Don’t see any benefit for MFC. I’d rather only have people who belong to MFC on the training ground.
He’ll know set piece plays and other tactical bits, as well as maintaining, boosting his own fitness levels.
We’ve done him and Norwich a favour.

Why wouldn’t we do him a favour, the guy was here for years and his uncle owns the club.

strange thing for you to come out and say really

Good signing for Norwich. Gutted but I guess money was the big stumbling block in the end.

In fairness to Gibson, I'm sure he'd have preferred to come back here but if we can't afford him we can't afford him.

No big loss. We could not afford him. Move on look to the future not to the past.

It's the opposite. It's a huge loss. The man wanted to sign for us, as opposed to the myriad of players who don't. Listening to Hall tonight hammers it home how much we need a Gibson type defender.

Yes, it's a loss but once a parachute club came for him there was no chance.
Norwich are a solid club and obviously better placed than we are to go back-up.

At the time probably a good thing. A decent defender for the team to train with who would also come in with some fresh ideas. Also I would argue that he may well have come back to Middlesbrough if it had not been for a club with parachute money who wanted him.

But why not do him a favour? He needed to train and Boro allowed him to do so.Surely, the motivation doesn't always need to be for purely selfish outcomes.

He probably wasnt privvy to any exclusive moves Boro worked on.

Well done Boro and good luck to Ben at Norwich

I'm not too bothered, his best season for us was in the Prem, in the Championship he looked a bit dodgy on quite a few occasions.

Don't get me wrong I would have taken him back as he would have improved the first team but the finances would have had to have been right. Clearly we couldn't make that work and compete with Norwich, if we had matched the financial package he would have 100% picked us over anyone else interested.

However, we just don't have that sort of cash now or if we did by using it on Gibson we would probably have had to sacrifice a few other signings in other areas of the pitch to balance the books. Although, I suspect he was always financially out of our reach.

Ultimately we have good young centre backs coming through and still the chance of getting in cheaper experienced defensive options into the club later in the window. We move on and keep looking. 👀
