BrewDog Beers

Neither are wrong. You seem to be struggling with the concept that people have different taste preferences.

I don't like olives. I have no problem believing other people genuinely like them though!

I'm sure you're right that some people - particularly young men - only drink beer to fit in and aren't really that fussed. I'm sure some only drink it to get drunk. That seems to be your own personal experience and that's fair enough.

But why us it so hard to believe that others genuinely like the taste of it?

I love Weissbier. My mother in law is not a drinker and she doesn't really go out with friends. She very rarely gets so much as tipsy and if she does it's on wine.

But on the odd occasion she'll happily have a half of my Weissbier. I can't think of any reason she'd do that other than because she likes the taste!
The taste preference seems to be by group though, not the individual. Group A drinks Moretti/ Peroni etc, Group B drinks carling, stella, fosters etc, Group C drinks Craft beers, Guinness etc. I would expect that there isn't a taste bud difference between the two groups, so why isn't there more of a mix of choices within the groups? Seems to me people just drink what their crowd drinks? All the groups have been mates before they were even legal to drink, and are all about the same age. Was even the same way with back in the day, with other groups.

I didn't like Olives, neither did our lass, but now we both by them every week. I'm not sure if I actually love the taste of them or if I just find them intreguing. The fresh ones have by far the better texture though, the ones in a jar are trash.

100% appreciate what I'm saying will sound odd to a lot of people, but I just don't get why different groups drink the same thing as their group, if they're doing it by taste choice. Put these groups in different places too (restaurant, pub, weddings, the races, gigs etc) and their preferred taste then seems to change. Would expect that to be a lot more consistent.

I’m on holiday and sat in a bar yesterday where a group of about ten men came in, four ordered cocktails, the other six just bantered them for ages.

You know the style, proper unfunny banter because the pina coloda had an umbrella and pineapple attached. Then one realised the cost of a round had become unbalanced.

I reckon there’s two reasons right there. 1 - unfunny banter that becomes irksome. 2- it’s naffs the rounds up and becomes irksome.

Haha, ticked two quality boxes there, the obvious jokes about a drink and the classic imbalance conversation. The latter coming often when groups are either skint or one or two of them are tight. It's worse at restaurants, sorting the bill out at the those is tiresome when the bill isn't split, and some tip and some don't.

Yeah it does make rounds easier when people drink the same thing, but 4 drinks shouldn't be hard, or say if 10 were drinking two or three different drinks. Even I can manage that and my memory is terrible.

Cost of round is probably the reason that a group gravitates towards the same drinks.

Also it could be the income level of the various groups. The Premium lager and craft beer groups may earn more than the carling and fosters group.

I don't mind most of the Brewdog beers, but the Brewdog/Aldi Punk is actually nicer than Brewdog Punk.

I got some of the Post Punk Tropical last week and it's really nice. Tastes a bit like Um-Bongo.

I have shares in Brass Castle Brewery in Malton and some of their beers are outstanding.
Bad Kitty porter 👌

Sunshine is my go to 🤤
Not a fan of West Coast-style IPAs, personally they have a bit too much "bite" to them. Give me a decent porter, impy stout or hazy ipa and i'm happy.

As the weather is warm at the minute i'm largely drinking Pale ales, obviously Beak are the masters there but I had a decent one by Rivington recently (another great brewery) called Fly in Any Weather 🙂

The whole anti-establishment facade died when they created a King's coronation beer (Ale to the king/Dog save our king ).

I've just read the co-founder has stood down and made me think. Is it just good marketing? Or do other people actually like their beers? When I was drinking I tried many and went to a couple of BrewDog bars. Plus now tried all the zero % beers and I haven't found one (alcohol or non) that doesn't taste thin and a bit bland. Am I expecting too much?
Try Estrella Galicia Zero % - i worked for them for years and it's the only zero lager i've found to have a really malty and full flavour! I won't bore you with the science but it's a specific zero % Brew done at very low temp and pressure which maintains the flavour whereas most zero % lagers are the regular batch taken to high temp and pressure which destroys the alcohol but also the flavour profile!

That is the bar I have been to, not stayed at the hotel. Have to say the food and beer was rather expensive in comparison to other places not far away
Yeah it's not cheap, and neither is the hotel room (mind most hotels round there are pricey)

I forgot to add the bar is 24hours for residents. I got in just after midnight and a I was checking in asked if I'd like a drink

The people I drink with all drink different stuff. It's a right pain in the backside getting a round. Even more annoying now I know none of them like what they are drinking and are just doing it because of good marketing.

They're all having carling next time we go out! They will understand when I explain why.

Bizarre. I bought that from a tiny shop in a Souk in Marrakesh! It was nicer than most zero lagers.

Just don't have friends, like I don't :D :D :D :D

Another Hazy Jane fan here.

BTW has anyone stayed at the doghouse I'm Manchester? It's pretty cool. I had a guitar, recprd player and vinyl in the room. The minibar was literally every drink they make plus you could get a keg of your favourite. Oh and of course, there was a beer fridge in the shower.

If there was a bath tub with a beer fridge above it I’d be ruined, I’d probably sup everything in it. 😁
