She is, i suppose the thinking is this might force sunak into a earlier election and she will be gone sooner rather than later

I tell you what though, Starmer is absolutely ruthlessly going about his task of crushing the Tories and getting Labour elected.

The Conservatives are in trouble in every issue, the one area Sunak was hoping/banking on showing some daylight/difference is border control and immigration. Getting this defection from the Dover and Deal MP, citing being unable to trust him to handle these issues completely batters him. The timing of these two defections have been very well planned. Starmer and his team are listening very carefully to the likes of Mandelson, Blair, Campbell, Kinnock. One just before the local elections and highlighting the NHS issue, one just after the elections and just after the Rwanda bill is perfect. They are denying the Conservatives air to breather, let alone even a small breeze in the sails. They are dead in the water.

Labour are so disciplined whenever the Tories try to stoke up some culture war issue to try and scare their base and energize it, they simply refuse to be drawn.

Yep, we don't want her in our party, but if having her in means the general election is one week closer than it's a price worth paying.

If Elphicke possessed the self-awareness to recognise the toxic bag of slime that she is, and the if Tories were anything like the cunning barstewards they used to be before systematically culling anyone with half a brain from their parliamentary party, then this defection would have a strong whiff of Trojan Horse about it.
 
It makes me slightly nauseous thinking of what Labour will have had to bribe her with to get her to do this, given she is stepping down at the election.

Dame Natalie Elphicke will be gracing the House of Lords in a couple of years presumably. 🤮
