Steve Gibson's fmttm Q and A - Thursday

Sorry but no. It has to be live and not recorded, that way it means we get a far more open account. Maybe, we might be able to follow this up with a recorded interview.
I would ask everyone to respect this please.
These things need transparency Rob. It’s things like this that create resentment between fans groups and everyone else. There tends to be write ups afterwards anyway.

So if I go to the q&a, does that mean I can’t come home and post everything that was said on here?

Will I have to sign an NDA?

This Thursday evening in the Legends Lounge at the Riverside.
90 minutes Q and A with Boro owner Steve Gibson.
Also there will be a free drink and some food (please indicate if you have allergy or intolerance).
There will also be an MFC Foundation raffle with prizes of signed Boro stuff.

We are charging £5 (+eventbrite fees) - apart from the fees all proceeds go to Henry's Boro charity - the toddler Boro are presently championing in his battle against cancer.

A maximum of two tickets each please - BOOK YOUR TICKETS HERE

Hi Rob this is a really great idea and I hope it will be well attended. However it isn’t accessible for those of us who don’t live in the area as Bristol-boro has already highlighted. It’s a frustration for those of us who don’t live in the area. For my daughter and I to attend it means taking an afternoon off work to travel there and having already taken time off to do the same tomorrow for the Leeds game. And this simply can’t happen with such short notice and our respective employers. I know you have said it can’t be live streamed or recorded but can we submit questions?

I sympathasise. I set this up for the fanzine and website. But I will talk to the football club about this

Find me a chairman / owner who hasn't made mistakes.
I don't have one mate and you know that. We'll forever be in his debt for the success (I'll admit happily, the best time in the clubs career) but we're here languishing under his leadership too now and have been for over a decade.

I can take the rough with the smooth because life is always in the grey areas. I don't expect 'success'. But he hasn't been rinsed as the poster suggests.

He's made awful mistakes that have set us back rather than building on what we had. I'm absolutely fine with that because at least we have the memories. But let's be balanced in this shall we?

We're not the only ones, but we'll live and die by those decisions.

I don’t consider what I pay for a season ticket to be unreasonable. If that make me ‘all right Jack’ then yes I am.

Could tickets be cheaper - Yes but am I being rinsed? Certainly not
Season ticket prices might seem reasonable to you but for the majority of our supporters, they are ridiculously expensive compared to other clubs

Hmm. Well I respect it but it is exactly this sort of thing that he gets criticised for.

I have had a season ticket for decades but because I can’t make a 250 mile round trip on a Thursday night at 3 days notice I can’t hear everything that is said; even if I’m willing to still pay?

What’s he planning to be so “open” about that he won’t say on a podcast or live feed? Another example of how his PR approach needs to move with the times.

Everything he says will be posted on here anyway, but it’s as if it’s another example of him wanting to make a select few feel “special” so that they go away wanting to defend him and put a positive slant on it all. It’s all a bit transparent if you ask me.

This isn’t a criticism of you by the way, Rob, and I commend you for setting it up, but if I had one question for him it would simply be “why don’t you engage more openly with the fans on a more regular basis, given the rather tough/dull period the fans have endured over the last 18 years?”.

I imagine that is the time when alot of debt was incurred, was it a mistake?
mate, ten or maybe even five years ago I’d have vehemently agreed with you. “It was all worth it” etc. “Gibson makes mistakes and he’ll put it right”. Maybe it still is the case, but I have ambivalent views on it all now. The last 18 years have gleaned 1 great season, plus a fairly below par 3 play-off appearances.

Next season is our 8th consecutive season outside the top flight. The longest stint for 50 years. 15 out of 16 seasons in the second tier, we’re living through one of the least fruitful periods in the club’s entire history.

I just think he could up his game on the PR side, that’s all. I think it’s now needed.

Hello from the early 21st century friend 👋
SG has cleared the majority of the debt, if he was to clear the rest and gave the club to the fans with a nil balance sheet, what's your master plan/blue print to run the club without it losing money and being successful at rhe sametine, other than expecting some other mug to put in their millions in?

He needs to communicate better. He is slowly but surely losing the fans with each passing season in the second tier.

That said, he COULD win them all back over with either better results OR better communication.
