Our better players for me today were the centre backs, Ayling on the right and the midfield pair.
Greenwood had a good second half but a poor first.

I think we played a hybrid between 4231 and 541 today.
Ayling played relatively narrow and attacked less (but still did). We live in a world where a perfectly symmetrical formation is not really a thing.
You have a fluid formation with options for flexing.
I think playing a more formal 541 for a few games has found us a more solid way to flex the 4231 system and we are overall less attacking. Which means we are conceding a lot less.

What is funny about my comment @indeedido. Bit confused as to how saying Barlaser has a really big influence today is false. He clearly did.
Him and O’Brien dominated.
We’re allowed to disagree on what we see.
He played well today Barlaser but has he ever had a shot for us? Genuine question. There's been loads of times this season when he's had the opportunity to get a shot away but he just never does.Dan Barlaser ***

Quality from the geordie Pirlo today

I keep umming and aahing about whether I actually want us to offer Ayling a permanent contract.

He's been good for over a month now and I like him.
He'd not sign if he wasn't guaranteed game time, which is the one question mark for me.
In an ideal world we'd need a younger player as our first choice right back, especially with a Smith still on the books too.
Dijksteel is clearly on his way out, he put in absolutely no effort when he came on today and Carrick has never fancied him.
Still wouldn’t say it was a comment that is in need of a laughing emoji

I thought Barlaser was how he always is against a very poor side, given acres of space and plenty of time to try and spray the ball around. He does so little with his time and space.
He creates little and is never threatening.
I think if you hold your breath for him to shoot you when he has the opportunity then you will make a fabulous pearl diver.

Apologies, I didn’t see the laughing emoji. That’s a very hurtful thing to do @indeedido
Your crack on here is truly woeful. Never said anything interesting just go round winding people up.
