WD40 is great, but it's not always the best thing to use. A good silicon based lubricant is a fine thing to have in your squirty armoury.

Just discovered the WD-40 “penetrate” edition and if saved me the cost of a plumber coming to remove a bath tap whilst also giving me a He Man esque rep round ours - wonderful stuff

It's too effective sometimes.
Garage door was getting harder to up and over. Sprayed every bit of the mechanism and left it for an hour. Went out and yanked the door , it shot up clunking me on the chin on the way up. Stunned I clutch at my face , the door then under its own weight began a downward path.As I was coping with pain and my eyes watering profusely I did not notice this change of direction. It smacked me on the top of my head drawing blood.
I locked it and went for a lie down.

Brilliant stuff. My clutch cross shaft was seizing and this stuff sorted it, no problem.
Also discovered dielectric silicone grease this weekend too, sorted my gas cylinder sensor out in 2 mins.

WD40 can corrode GT85 is a better bet imho.
