Wheres Norman?

Do you know if he went to the Boudin (black pudding) Fair in Mortagne? I was there on the saturday and was hoping he'd let me know as I could have had a coffee with him. I have no idea what he looks like so listened out for a Teesside accent, but heard no English voices at all.
I believe that’s where he was going.

He’s a small bloke with a big Boro voice.

I've just found that photo that Northumberland Boro mentioned, but mon dieu, you all look the same. Joking aside, I'm sure the bloke in the middle on the left brushed past me near the food stalls at the fair, but I was too busy looking at what food he was carrying to take much notice. I lived a couple of doors away from Charlie Wyke (the same family as the footballer) and Norman's grandfather(?) when I was a nipper and I can see a family resemblance. That was nearly 70 years ago, but you know how faces can sometimes be imprinted on your memory. I spotted little Jimmy on the photo from one he put up when he first joined the forum despite having brown tape wrapped around his face - no, I've no idea why, you can ask him. :)

Hello mate, we did attend the boudin noir festival at Mortagne and had a wonderful time, thank you for the recommendation, we all enjoyed it. We left here on Thursday and travelled to Cambridge to stay with the in-laws, who also came with us to Alencon.

On the Friday evening, we had a lovely meal in the La Suite restaurant in Alencon, which is located next to the hotel. The restaurant is owned by two brothers and is a Michelin Bip restaurant. This was the third time we had eaten there and would recommend it if you are in the area.

On the Saturday we noticed I had a crack on the windscreen and we looked into getting that sorted on the morning, which ate up some of our time and felt we had a wasted morning. Realising this couldn't be fixed, we travelled over to Mortagne-au-Peche for the festival and spent a few hours mooching around the different displays and sampling the different boudin noirs. Later, went back to Alencon for a few beers and another meal at a pub-style restaurant.

After breakfast on the Sunday morning, we travelled back up to Calais, onto Cambridge and then back home.

Apologies for not getting in touch with you for a coffee but the whole weekend was a bit hectic with a lot of driving. We did enjoy it though.

We are back in France at the end of June and not home again until the end of August. We will be in Alencon on the evening of Wednesday 28th August and would be delighted to meet up for a beer or a coffee then if you are available.

No need to apologise Norman, I knew that you were with relatives so your time would not be all your own. It does sound like a particularly hectic weekend with a lot of driving, so I’m pleased you enjoyed yourselves. As I mentioned in another post we may have crossed paths at the fair, but I can’t be sure.

I can’t commit to 28th August at the moment as it’s in the summer holidays and we may be away - the better half is still teaching - but if we’re around it would be a pleasure to meet up. We’ll see nearer the date. Take care now.

PS Thanks for the restaurant recommendation, I'll check it out.
