CT Scans

I had one today for my screwed right foot. It took 80 minutes. Is this a record for 1 foot? I must admit I found the noises quite soothing.

I'm glad it is just for a foot and nothing serious. I can limp for years.

I had an MRI on my heart last year and was in for 95 minutes. They didn’t put any music on either so was just me and my thoughts. Every time I started to go to sleep the machine moved 😂

Hope your foot gets better.

UTB.

Sat CT scanning as I type. Count yourself lucky, some of ours can take 30 hours!
Christ. 😬

I'm a bit claustrophobic and hated the experience. Had 2 MRIs on my back/hip and only lasted 20 mins but felt like an enternity. Felt like I was on the edge of flipping out for the duration. Much longer and not sure I'd have kept it together!

To be fair I should have said, I'm more industrial radiography, I scan subsea oil and gas pipelines!

1 foot in 80 minutes. By my reckoning that's 0.000142 mph.🐌 That must be some limp.😉

My D-In-law said her mum just paid £400 for a CT scan for her cat, can you imagine how much a human CT scan costs?

Argh, can't decide if this is the joke or you've left the obvious joke just hanging there for someone else to tap in 😂

Had one to detect the extent of a stroke I had in 2011. Took about half an hour. It was the barely masked clanging sounds I remember. Half an hour of that and I was ready to write my will!

Had one last week, injected with an iodine solution halfway through which was a really strange sensation, felt like you’d ***ed yourself, to be honest it was a piece of cake having had a cystoscopy (Google it) half an hour before, anything after that can be described as pleasant.
Took about 40 minutes

Oh come on just say it.

It's £400 for a cat scan.

There, was that so hard?
The PET scans are another thing as well and I bet they cost even more. Had my brain scanned many times in the various machines and the knocking noise in Mri are the worst in that tiny little tunnel that you go in head first for a brain scan:sick:

I had a scan in the 80s. It took about an hour and was the most unpleasant experience. The noise was so loud and the feeling of claustrophobia was terrible. I was fully in the scanner. I nearly asked them to stop on a couple of occasions.
I hope its improved since then ?

I had one last year and apart from it being much shorter for me sounds like the same experience.

The first one I had a few years before that was a "mobile scanner" in a trailer in the hospital car park. Made the mistake of opening my eyes once during that one. Didn't do that again 😳

According to the NHS website sometimes they'll give you headphones to listen to music and mask to cover your eyes.... but I had none of that available for mine. That's probably more a private hospital experience I'm guessing!
