Fed up with bad news

Every day for the past few decades my morning routine includes looking at the news online and it's always a dismal experience

Today I just typed in 'good news' and found sites like this and this which are like a breath of fresh air

If you're feeling down or have mental health issues I would recommend you try give it a go because I am sure reading constant, incessant bad news in the usual outlets can't do anything but push your anger levels up and bring your mood down

Spot on. I always find it's worth giving the news a swerve if you're having a bad day.

everyday I put the news on, mainly BBC and have it on mute. Even after 15 minutes and on mute it is off at 07:15

Just bookmarked this. Thank you.

We are always on the lookout for threat and danger and the current world and social media really does exploit that which is a shame.

Just checked my twitter profile and I've followed Positive News for years. Yet I can't remember them once appearing on my timeline despite them posting regularly. Makes you wonder how they are controlling what you see on your TL

We don't watch BBC Breakfast, or the Alzheimer's and Cancer show as we call it, there's never much good cheer on that programme. As for the ITV equivalent, well that's just for the hard of thinking.

The TV news is depressing and fans the flame of unhappiness, anger and resentment at the many wrongs of this world. Not good for mental health if you are already struggling.

I am not sure that I could stand to read a good news website where one of the headlines is about a missing cat being reunited with it's owner though!

Yea, when it comes to mental health, i think news corporations have a lot to answer for personally.

It seems to be getting worse, more dramatic and click-bait orientated by the day too.

Depressing a whole nation with scare-mongering, over-dramatic aritcles to make more coin.

Was just think along very same lines this morning. I'm a news junky but I know it doesn't always do me any favours listening to the doom and gloom. I did manage to wean myself off a little at the start of Covid as it just got too much but have gone back

Make sure you're setup to read your own timeliness and not the' "suggested". It's a toggle you need to switch yourself

Stopped watching news a while ago, just got bored of it making me angry/depressed. If something major happens, I'm sure I'll find out some other way!

Where I work it's the only place you can get lunch for under a fiver. Since COVID the prices have rocketted everywhere else. There used to be a bunch of budget places, but now they are all gone. Not my favourite bakers by a long shot, but literally the only place a lot of people can go. And there's nowt wrong with the coffee.
