Mark Knopfler's Guitar Heroes - Going Home

The Theme from Local Hero, one of my favourite songs (and films) of all time and the fact that the Saudis up the road run out to it will never change that. A cast of amazing guitarists including the last ever recording by Jeff Beck and all for The Teenage Cancer Trust. What's not to love?
(I think I prefer the original though)

Saw Albert Lee on Tuesday night at a small venue outside of Cardiff. He told some anecdotes about being fired by Eric Clapton. They were good mates now and that he'd be seeing him on Saturday at a lunch for Mark Knoffler's new single. Interesting to see that in the ensemble pic, Albert stands out from the crowd, while it looks like Eric is bottom right!

Got tickets to see him at The Sage The Glasshouse International Music Centre in June.

Some list that, to many to mention myself but Duane Eddy at 85, Joan Armatrading, 73 John Sebastian 79.
Will buy when home. A cause dear to my heart just now.

Saw Dire Straits supporting Talking Heads before DS had any records out. Impressive then but have got less interesting by the year
Within the space of a week in late 70s, I saw Dire Straights, Cheap Trick, and the Police at Leeds Poly - a couple of quid each.

Cheap Trick were the best of the lot

Bought the original 7in in a picture sleeve, the week it came out. Found all my singles a couple of months ago. Put it in a frame and gave it to my mate for his Newcastle themed pub shed.
