Kate, Princess of Wales - not seen this year.

She should have the right to decide whether she wants the details of any illness made public or kept private.

I don’t know why anyone would want to take that choice away from her.
Me neither.

Do you not think its beyond the realms of possibility that the family themselves are taking away certain choices from her? Regarding this 'illness' or any other aspect of her life?

Like I've said above, I have little or no interest in these people, but the counter to your argument is then don't flood the media with puff pieces about how wonderful your family are, make yourself a public figure, and then not expect to get questions asked when you obviously lie or try and hide or cover something up

But you are advocating the exact same things.

You are saying she should have no right to privacy around her condition and that they need to address the conspiracy theorists online regarding bulimia, stating whether she has it or not..

Na I’m not.

What I’m saying is that the palace have clearly dropped a massive ******* by publishing a photo of her with no wedding ring whilst these rumours remain rife/not denied.

All they’ve done is fan the flames for themselves.

IF, and it remains IF, she is suffering from bulimia as a result of the strain she is under (and/or the future King’s treatment of her, like her late MIL) then that is a matter of public interest given what ended up happening to her MIL.

If she is suffering from bulimia, like her late MIL, which seems fairly plausible (and if she isn't then they should come out and say so), then that IS real news.

This isn't about 'privacy', this is about her actual wellbeing and the impact of being a woman enveloped into that institution.
It's not really though is it?

Not enough to warrant this amount of attention

Nail on the head mate.

But of course Royalists will be defensive when there are question marks around their conduct that could easily lead to public opinion swaying against them. The 'privacy' defence is hilarious, they're not members of the public, they're apparently our rulers!
I just can’t get around how anyone could have so little self respect and respect for their own family to treat others as better by birth…it’ll forever be just strange cultist behaviour to me

There would be no extra attention if the image hadn't been released. Someone made that decision and I don't for a second believe it was solely the PoW herself.

The logistics of it don't make sense - unless you believe that she has direct comms with various photo-desks.

Even if she wasn't recovering from an operation I'd expect her to be using the internal PR team to do the donkey-work.

Plus they must have processes in place that allowed recipients to verify the source.

None of it adds up - which is why it's blown up the way it has.

OK enjoy your knitting circle

Why would an apparently healthy youngish woman need a hysterectomy?
If she does have health problems the public should have the right to know, since we are funding their parasitic lives and they interfere in public issues in a daily basis. Of course no such rights exist, which is the point of a monarchy.
A friend and family member have both had this, both young, otherwise healthy..

I definitely am no fan of royalty but not sure I know where I stand regarding going public with illnesses.

I think on balance they should just be open about it, the awareness it would spread would be really helpful.

Here is an article effectively saying what I was trying to say above. This 'never complain, never explain' tripe is a load of outdated bollox. Their PR team needs a major upgrade if they are to survive in the modern world.

Imagine the BBC, another public institution constantly under scrutiny and shooting itself in the foot, simply held 'never explain' as its main PR tactic! Wouldn't last 5 more minutes.

Ok, an observation in discussion with my girlfriend.

Look at index finger length compared to pinky finger. In the motherday picture the index finger is slightly shorter than the pinky

In this historical picture the index is much much longer than the pinky about as long as the ring finger, but that doesn’t match the proportions in the Mother’s Day photos

I find it hard to believe that Mother’s Day photo hand is Kate’s
