Kieran Scott - leaving?

It's nothing like that.

Scott outright credited Danks with Archer and Ramsey, he coached them both at youth level at Aston Villa.

Danks coached Morgan Rogers for years whilst both were at West Brom, we then signed him after an indifferent loan spell at Blackpool.

The most likely answer is that Danks recommended a player he coached at youth level.

I suspect he also recommended Alex Gilbert, for the same reason, and that's been an expensive waste of money.
Whilst I agree I also think it's a bit of a moot point; Scotts primary function as DofF isn't to identify new players, he has a scouting and recruitment team for that, rather his role, I would suggest, is to ensure each constituent part of the playing side of the club works effectively, both in isolation and collectively together.

Ultimately he is accountable to the overall success of our recruitment of course, but I think the debate around his ability to spot signings is very much overplayed.

I would say that part of the recruitment however is to sell the club to prospective players. VDB is a good example. It's unlikely he woke up one morning with all the interest from top clubs and decided that he wanted to play for Boro. A player like that needs to be sold both a vision, and how he'd personally fit into the team and grow. There's certain people, whatever industry you work in, who are just very good at that. Clearly in that particular case it's worked, but we've signed a lot of promising young players - some with more success than others.

No idea whether Scott is that man, but he comes across as a man who could sell the club to players and talks sense

In the podcast interview he did the other week, Scott said he became aware of VDB through his agent while scouting his brother for Norwich before he joined Liverpool. He gave all credit for persuading VDB to come here to Carrick and Woodgate for selling the club and his role in the team. He said they had a short Zoom call and he had a message from the agent immediately afterwards saying he had made his mind up to come here straight away.

Who will replace Scott ?
Made up ITK.

Gibbo has fell out with Scott over form and signings this season.

He's asked George Friend to get some practice in as DoF till the end of the season then take over from Scott.

Gibbo turned to Gorgeous George after Marco Branca knocked him back.
