Man of the match today...

Dijksteel*

No other stars given.

I remember the days when you knew Boro had reached a nadir when Eric Paylor used to hand out no stars in his Gazette match report. ‘Sorry Boro no match for the Latics… and on this evidence, they have an awful lot of work to do on the training ground if they want to put things right at Selhurst Park next week’ etc.

Forss put a shift in, and Greenwood ran about when he came on, but to be honest everyone was well under par, there was no quality at all.

The Red Faction at least kept singing, just a shame the songs were non Boro songs so no one else felt compelled to join in, but it seems like they enjoyed themselves at least.

To be honest we missed Crooks today, no one to hold the ball up.

Forss despite all his efforts, wasn't able to make the ball stick when it was hoofed up to him.

We do miss a bit of height in our midfield/ forward line.

Wouldn’t have given one. Even the suggestions for McGree and Forss who might have been the best of a bad bunch, don’t deserve the tag man of the match.

Did Maddo give one on Tees?

Not one of them. All need a good hiding tomorrow on the training ground. F***ing shight *****.
On this…. Do we think Carrick will/can give a good hiding out?

Was thinking at half time they need a bollocking… but somehow can’t see Carrick giving the hairdryer treatment.

He's said before he's “not a shouter”, but somehow he needs to make them feel embarrassed, angry, ashamed, weak-willed and motivated to do better for the fans, if not themselves. Perhaps a change of tack is what's needed?! Today was totally unacceptable. Sounds daft, but I wish that 30 minute walk-out protest had gone ahead. It was like watching paint dry and people with season cards, families, walked out at half-time and didn't come back.
£510 for a renewed season ticket!
No encouragement today, was there?(n)

Yeah I agree - not all managers will want to be shouters but some performances deserve to be shouted at and the players do need to now that it was embarrassing, angry, ashamed etc.

What’s the consequence for a bad performance under Carrick then? If it’s a well mannered chat in the changing room I wouldn’t see that as a motivator, especially for the loan players who won’t be here next season.

Roofie I am inclined to agree with Carrick, I think today was mostly his fault.

He probably should have switched to 3 CB's between the first and second goals.

Forss was rubbish today and offered nothing, as did most of the team. This limited Carricks options, so make us solid at the back. As soon as Argyll go 2 up they stopped leaving the gaps at the back and sat back and defended. Keeping it to 1-1 would have allowed us to play through them more effectively, they would have committed more men forward and left gaps.

In short Carrick was the worst performer today.
