The 5 players you have mentioned are nowhere near being good enough for any team with promotion hopes. Irrelevant of who we have out injured, these players simply aren't good enough to be playing the amount of games they are.

Ayling has been gash. I think I described his performances as meehhh after his first 3 games. Will that has now regressed to gash.
 
Oh and barlaser is one of the worst players I have ever seen in a boro top*

Dieng, Smith, Engel, Bangura, Fry, Lenihan, Howson, Hackney, Jones, Coburn.

We’ve been awful but there’s a case to be made for at least 8 of those starting if they were fit.

*we don’t know what’s going with Dieng obvs
 
Really bad. No one seems to know what they are supposed to be doing, even the management team! Could easily have been worse. Plymouth were terrible in midweek but are playing okay and with spirit. We are just terrible for some reason.

But even out of them, Coburn isn't really the level we need. Howson is 36. Bangura still has to prove himself.

Barlaser has looked good on occasion this season, but he is terrible when we are struggling.

Think he is a good player that does not fit in this formation.
 
These had 0.45 xG in the entire game against West Brom at home midweek, they've got 1.39 in a half against us.

They are vulnerable at the back and do concede goals. Don't look like that at the moment. I would swap silvera and Mcgree.

No idea what to do with the mf and defence though. Not one of them has played well today.

Ayling has been particularly bad, but they have all been a bit rubbish.

He's probably had 5 good games out of the 40 odd he's played for us. He's garbage. Far too many weaknesses in his game.
 
We won’t play that badly in the second half, I’m sure.

Not much firepower on the bench though.

Think this is going to end frustratingly…
