Why do so many people get way ahead of themselves on here?

You`re right to get on your high horse and tell everyone to stop getting ahead of themselves

Perhaps you`d be happy if we all just wrote the team off without kicking a ball
Calling the Managers team selection horrendous.

Like you did in the thread titled "The leaked team" -

Just seen the supposedly leaked line up for today, won't share it on here but it's easy enough to find on Twitter. If this line up is true then may as well not turn up. Apparently Hackney and Howson are injured so there's nothing Carrick can do about that but some of the other picks, if true, are horrendous

I'm also not sure who's stealing a living more, our defensive coach or our physios. I've never seen a team have so many injuries within one season

Do you actually support (as in get behind them) our team, or do you criticise them no matter what?

I`m guessing you thought we`d get battered so you tried to get ahead of everyone by saying our team selection is horrendous.
Now we have won people are rightly calling you out

Take it and maybe show some faith in the future.

The Boro have never been great but we do tend to stick together when the going gets tough

Have a good evening

Firstly we were brilliant today and Carrick got in spot on, as did the lads on the pitch. However there’s so many smug comments on here talking about how everyone who criticised a player or Carrick was completely wrong and how we should blindly trust him going forward, it’s honestly laughable.
By all means we should be over the moon with this result but it doesn’t mean any criticism O’Brien, Silvera, Barlaser, Carrick or anyone else has received over the season is null and void.
I’m over the moon with the result and the lads did us proud but I don’t get why people get so far ahead of themselves talking like we are unbeatable
Oh come on, just enjoy our best win of the season without trying to find a negative 🤷

I thought we would get hammered, the humble pie tastes outstanding.

But like I’ve said time and time before, don’t get downhearted with the defeats and don’t get carried away with the wins. This is a proper mad league.

Great win, well done Carrick and the boys. Enjoy your Saturday lads 👍

I don't watch in-game streams so I'm really relying on comments from this forum. But by the sounds of it the lads were outstanding today and we've pulled off a fantastic, if unlikely win.

We should all of us enjoy the evening but it's a little bittersweet isn't it? We're still 13th. Still 7 teams in-between us and where we want to be and still 7 points to make up.

Beat Plymouth and make it two wins on the spin and maybe, just maybe, we can start to feel a bit more positive about a league campaign that up to now has been fairly average. UTB.

As I said on the match thread, some posters seem to be applying the twisted logic that if a player has a good game, it means that they never previously had a bad game, and that anyone who said they did is stupid and knows nothing about football. Talking about fans eating humble pie when a player who's had several poor performances scores a goal, and so on.

Of course it's great to see a player come good, especially when they've been struggling. But that doesn't mean people who criticised their bad games were wrong, does it? If I eat five apples and the first four are mouldy, but the fifth is delicious, it doesn't make the first four any better, nor do the first four make the fifth one any less tasty.

It’s not the criticism here it was the absurd hyperbole and over the top comments aimed at players from some sources throughout the week. Of course one sunny day doesn’t make a summer (nobody thinks that) and my god there have been a lot of rainy days recently. I’m enjoying it for what it is and will think about next week tomorrow.

But people are also applying that same 'twisted logic' the other way, i.e. as soon as a player has a bad game it's like he never previously had any good games. Players can rightly be criticised for recent performances but some of it has been completely over the top.

No Manager or Player is above criticism or constructive observations (good or bad). I do think some people form and opinion on somebody or something, and are then too quick to call other people out when it suits them. They’re also unwilling to change the opinion at times when / if they may have got wrong.

After a defeat, you see some usernames pop back with their generally negative outlook on everything. Funnily enough, they tend not to contribute when things are going well.

It’s a strange old thing. It’s almost like some people are only ever happy if they can whinge about something.

However, it is okay to be critical of players and managers when it’s warranted. Carrick isn’t perfect. He’s still a very inexperienced manager and is naturally going to make mistakes at times.

Things aren’t black and white, and like everything in life. You just need some balance.

I tend to say things as I see them but also try to understand the bigger picture and try not to get too high / negative when things are bad. I must admit, I was finding it difficult to hide my frustration after the Preston game as it just another game chalked up in the “should have won” category.

Very few performances this season have been rank bad from us. We’ve often played well enough and created enough chances to win games. Our inability to score and our habit of hitting the self destruct button defensively has held us back.

We’ve had many worse squads than this current one, despite what some people would say. They just aren’t quite as good as last seasons squad and results haven’t met expectations. I totally get why people are disappointed and frustrated.

The hope (that kills) is that we’re building a decent core of a squad for next season. Another decent summer window and the addition of some more pace and goals would make a huge difference to us next year.

Another couple of wins on the bounce and we will be sniffing around play offs again, but despite that I just can’t see us doing it this season.

I believe we were orgasmic beyond belief and out of this world today.
Michael Carrick is a genius, and we should be Champions League winners within five years!

Of course I support them, I have done since I was a kid through good and bad times. I’ve sung players praises and been optimistic plenty of time, I’m just not delusional in thinking a win today (albeit a great win) means I should take back my criticism of certain players. I also didn’t call the team selection horrendous, I said two of his choices were horrendous (1 of them still was)
