The 80s was pretty bad. But we still went.
Its been up and down all my life. We had a good run in the prem and won a cup but then it was back to the norm.
It is totally understandable that people stop buying season tickets. Its not like we are selling out every home game, is it?

When I was in my 20s, the match was the centre of my social life and I would have bought a season ticket for the Vauxhall Conference if I had to.
It really bothered me when I gave up my ST but it had been coming for years.
If we do reach the point where its 1 PL season in 16, that's not really 'the norm' in fairness. At least not in most of our lifetimes. We used to be a yoyo club, before we were an established PL club. Now we're neither.

All the upset is caused by people who feel they're being taken for granted. That is exactly what is happening but it always has. Nothing has changed. A captive audience.
We always seem to have a loyal fanbase of 10,000 to 15,000 that will turn up regularly for the level we are at now. That will boil down to 5000 when things get bad, no matter what - in my life time 84-86 then the last games with Lennie.
All football clubs rely on your love versus common sense. When the balance goes the other way then people stop going.

Yes, will renew, as it is a big social outlet for me, meeting in the pub beforehand and afterwards, more than anything but I don’t think they have considered this very well, in the current climate, especially after this years poor home performances and statements of intent with player sales, this renewal info couldn’t have come out at a worse time for them.

We were once (along with palace) statistically the most yo yo club in the country as you say we were always in the mix

I always start with thoughts of ‘I’m not going to bother this year’ then cave in and renew in early bird window. This year they want £620 within the next 4 / 5 weeks - about £30 a game. I said on another thread on Saturday that after Rotherham and Bristol City, now would not be a good time to issue renewals. Put on top of that the increasingly bonkers decision not to sign a forward in the January window and £620 feels like a lot of money to watch maybe 10 to 15 bang average games against poor Championship sides and God knows what Boro team. I think they are really going to struggle to get the 95% renewals they hope for and - for my stand new applicants stomping up £690 (£33 per game) in the early bird window. With the new early bird West and East upper costing £735 and £690 respectively - what on earth are non early bird seasons tickets and walk ups going to cost? Never thought I would see the day when a Boro season ticket was going to cost approaching £800. The club need to think very carefully about what they are doing on pricing.

I said to my nephews in October , open a trading account and il try and make enough money for our season tickets . I put 3k jn which soon become 8k , so that’s covered ours fortunately.

So I`m not a ST holder so I`m in the "New Applicant" bracket.

This me -

1. Can`t make the March deadline
2. Not sure I`ll be able to afford the later cost, will have to wait and see

I`d really like to get back in the stands, been saying I am when I lived down south and more so when I moved back home, but I don`t know it`s a lot of money, even for me being a single ticket user, can`t imagine what it must be like for those with kids who want to go.

Yes, I will renew. Fortunately my ticket price is going down due to category chance. My big grumble the same as everyone else is the cut off date, should have been Thursday 28th March, due to end of March being Easter.

I will renew. Lucky enough not to worry about the money side. But I’m really peeved at how the club has treated the fans, again. The deadline date shows they have no idea of how most people’s budgets operate and not even a ‘thanks’ for having a season ticket in the renewal email. Plus the dross on the pitch and failure to re-invest following high profile sales. And the chairman is a wanna-be gangster Tory.
Hmm…

I really want to renew and I can afford to but my new job has me away most of the time 🙁

I’m only seeing 2 of the remaining games and already missed 2 since a Christmas..

I love my seat but struggle to pass it on to anyone else to use as I go on my own and friends either s as ready have their own or don’t follow football..

II’m having a big dilemma 🙈

It’s nothing to do with the performance though… I just can’t justify it for all the missed games.. I guess it’s going to be walk up prices for me 😭😭😭
