Long-distance season ticket holders

8 seasons from Berkshire with 550 mile round trip. Midweek too at Ayresome. Long way back after
2 seasons from Edinburgh.
3 seasons from Nottingham.
Easy enough from Richmond the last 26 seasons.
Good effort that.

Yeah I did 5 from London. The last 14 from Manchester, though I don't usually bother midweek.

A few years back a mate of mine had one and he used to drive from Perth (Scotland) each home game. He now lives near Milton Keynes.

Roy was in the London branch of Boro supporters before it was MSS - I think in the 1970s and when it re formed in 1986.

I knew him in the Rioch days he was a cricket groundsman then. He had a Teesside/North Yorkshire accent, not sure how he ended up in Dunstable.

He one of those people that has always looked around 65. No drama queen neither or keyboard warrior type. I imagine he was a Ayresome Angel in Mannion's days.

Its roughly a 250 mile each way trip for me, but I stretch my visits out a bit and only attend about half the home games. Maybe some posters can understand how it can a bit irritating when some posters complain about paying £25 to see us play Chelsea or Villa or it taking 20 minutes to walk the Riverside from where they park after driving all of 4 miles from their house.

The Shropshire crew ran regularly for a few Robbo Riverside years, they were picking up all over the County, and its a big county (largest in England without a coastline). MSS I believe come up regularly for weekend games, they used to get group discounted train travel and they used to book lunch time tables in the Star when it was open. There were regulars from South Wales and a couple from Bristol the lady used to have a big Boro teddy bear on her lap for the car journey we would sometimes wave to her on the Motorway network.

I left for pastures new in 1998.
I travelled back from the midlands for every game but slowly started to miss the odd game, here and there. Once I missed one then it just became more and more regular as life and work got in the way until I gave up my ST after going to one or two games, one season.
I got a ticket for Ostrava away from the club so that showed how long I'd had an ST, up to that point. :D

They do do some random rewards. My sister has had her season ticket since Ayresome and they randomly sent her a signed shirt, calendar, old programmes etc a couple of years back. Probably worthless, but it was a lovely touch from the club.

There used to be a guy who attended all our matches from Southampton I think, he was 'rewarded' by the club at some point.

Do we have anyone on here who is attending almost/all matches from upwards of, say, 150 miles away?
Seems a lot travel from far and wide .
Loads from Boro don't bother .
Fred and Joe from Ormesby would rather sit in the club and spend 30 quid watching Sky and moaning about ticket prices .

I can understand when people are really hard up and can't afford a £480 season ticket (£9.23/week over a year). Its not cheap, but a lot cheaper than 20 fags per week or 40 fags per week from a guy in a white van.

and its not the majority of the adult population (aged 22-64) of Teesside.

Never been a season ticket holder and call me a plastic fan, but I've done the 35,764km round journey to watch us in two league cup finals, an FA Cup final, A UEFA cup final and play off final since I moved to NZ. Yes, I know, bloody glory hunter who denied proper fans tickets to those big games...

Genuinely though, how did you manage to get a ticket for Eindhoven?

Which league cup final did you miss?

Got the ticket thanks to the Gazette, I contacted them about travelling back for it and they put a story in and an old school friend saw it and her hubby had a spare one so got in touch.

And the final I missed was the one we won. My family (only half jokingly) said I'm banned from going to any more finals as we always lose when I go.

I was just gonna say the same thing!🤣

Fair play on the Eindhoven tickets. Using kilometres always makes it sound more impressive too 😉
