If we are sticking with 4-2-3-1 then it has to be this...

We played really well against Villa and Chelsea (at home) playing with Wing backs, and I think we'll play that way against Leicester in a couple of weeks.

When Jones is back I think this could be our most effective shape.. don’t think he’ll be back for Leicester tho

Thomas is in there because I'm still not 100% convinced on Bangura or Engel.

Smith over Ayling because he's a solid steady 7 or 8/10, every week, and importantly, I think we've missed his leadership on and off the pitch.

Lenihan over Fry - personally I don't even think it's close. Fry has been poor by his standards.

Midfield is tough. Hackney is obvious. Then it's one of O'Brien, Barlaser or Howson. I think when everyone is fit and firing, O'Brien would show his worth. Howson has been poor by his high standards this season - but it's expected, the bloke is 36 in May.

Top 4 pick themselves IMO. I think Jones is our most dangerous player which helps us move up the pitch and exploit the oppositions defence. McGree is our best for ball control and agility in close spaces. Forss is our best finisher. Then Latte is our only decent striker. Greenwood as back up. And Crooks also if we ever needed to change the game. Aziz as backup like Greenwood too.

I haven't seen enough of Latte, Azaz, O`Brien.Thomas.
McGree can be good but this injury he has seems to be debilitating him, will he play regular again? I hope so.
We need a forward, but its important we keep the players we have to a point and the management team more so.

Players have to be quite technical with quick passing and movement to fit in.

** not much between him, Fry and Clarke for me but he's a bit more comfortable on the ball it seems, but I have no strong feelings on any as a nailed on starter. Same with Crooks for Azaz, or even Forss for Lath.

So understandable we look disjointed / inconsistent a lot of the time.

I don't think we've had a 'best' XI available once all season pretty much.

Frustrating.

Of everyone I've seen play over the last few years, either here or elsewhere and predicting their current abilities...

Go on Newy you can count to 29 fella, I'm sure you can!

With 23 more U21's given Kavanagh has gone to Bradford and another of the 25 squad left too. Bridge is in there.
There are 24 more in the U18's which is where you will find McCabe and Matthews.
