Because we're able to and because we're civilised. You think we should just let them arrive here and starve in the streets? Why don't they seek asylum in France? Or Spain? Or Italy? Or whichever other country they land in first.

For every 1 that lands here maybe 100 stay on the continent. You don't know, do you? Perhaps they speak English, perhaps they have friends and family here? If you don't know, then shut up.

Im no pacifist.
But when peole miss the bigger picture, I remember the thousands of graves of boys and unknown soldiers who perished along the Western Front.
Just seeing lines of white marble crosses, all neatly placed in row after row....
Immaculate.
I wonder if they saw the world today whether they would ask if it had been worth their ultimate personal sacrifice?

I'd imagine they'd be disgusted, especially the way the war sacrifices have been hijacked by the ignorant and right wing :((n)
 
We can’t just have an open pass because it encourages more people to come
We need to control immigration and numbers
We need to know who is and account for everybody that is here
We need to verify that there is a legitimate reason to come here

These are all valid points

Not everybody who comes has had their country bombed and looted by us. We have ****ed up the middleeast and we have Blair and labour to thank for that. Who’d have thought it? Left wing labour going to war on lies.

You make a valid point though in that there are genuine cases and we must manage that carefully.

Not when they’re washing up in dinghys on the south coast or climbing out of roof boxes at the services.
That’s what I mean by control. Quotas, official transport etc.
 
I am fully supportive of refugees, they have escaped incredible hardship to get out of the hellish situations they have come from. However, there is a very big difference between sailing across the med from the hellish situation to another country and crossing the Channel from France to the UK. They should be claiming asylum where they land, not picking and choosing where they go otherwise are they asylum seekers or just economic migrants?

Er, not quite. I suggest you read up your history on the Ottoman Empire and the 1948 Arab-Israeli war as well as the 2nd world war and creation of Israel etc.

There's been a lot of trouble in the middle east WAY before Blair and Labour became involved.

I am happy that North Koreans make their way to South Korea to seek asylum rather than China, where they first land.
 
The argument can't be they are escaping from war torn countries? They have escaped them and now 'escaping' France.

Europe is a big old place. I imagine if they have got to France then they can go to many European counties.


They are coming here because its 'cushy' and they will be looked after. They won't be sleeping in a tent like France. We have a navy on the south coast (I know I served for 23yrs)

Get them sea dodgers out to sea and provide some deterrent (although not sure what they will do? Probably just taxi them ashore😕)

I totally agreed with you once upon a time. However, how do you control the Abedi's of this world? Is the risk an acceptable price? I once agreed it was, but I am now suggesting it isn't. I say that because my half cousin lost a grandchild in Manchester. I never knew the victim as we were not close tbf but nevertheless, a victim was taken due to protecting the lives of an immigrant. I have a different view now. I hold anger and want migration stopped. Those untouched are lucky nonetheless but at least you know why I hold contempt for our softness.
