Jesus, what just happened in Beirut?

100 dead and 4,000 injured, with that number expected to rise...some people within the close vicinity of the blast will never be identified 😩

Smuggling weapons in fireworks containers is a possible theory that's floating around social media.

The explosion could be heard in Cyprus!

Not sure why everyone has to come up with some aggrandised conspiracy. Firework factory next to store of ammonium nitrate. Is stupid, but much more plausible than any of the other daft ideas going around.

I've got some NH4NO3 in my shed, I use it as fertiliser, but I'm sensible and don't keep fireworks in there. And the shed is locked.

It's not a conspiracy theory it's a theory. Lots of them going around. Not everything is a conspiracy.

That’s looks like a missile or bomb, can’t imagine fireworks doing that

[ Beirut seems to have been Ammonium Nitrate storage gone up... ] this was Netherlands 2000, firework factory... loads more videos of other firework factories going up via google...

If it has zero evidence, and part of that theory involves 'the official story is a lie', then it's a conspiracy theory. Which is what this is
All of the theories currently have zero evidence to back them up so are you saying all of them are conspiracy theories?

Looking at pictures this morning it looks like a warzone. Feel for the people of the country who've already got so much **** to deal with, what with constant power outages, economy in the drain and the virus.

I'm not entirely sure why we have to try and find something sinister in everything that happens?

A fire occurred, and it ignited some stored ammonium nitrate.

It's a catastrophe, a humanitarian disaster and a tragedy.

There's simply no need to try and make something sinister about it.

According to Wiki Ammonium Nitrate's explosive energy is 0.42 times TNT, giving a yield of 1.155 Kilotons for 2750 tonnes of AN, approximately 1/14 of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima, or, more specualtively, about 300 times as explosive as the Upkeep bomb used in the 1943 dams raid.
