Would all be suspended if they had a rape investigation pending
Tory MP? Business as usual
Odd

I’m not going to name anyone, but from what I’ve seen online it seems to be widely suggested it’s a gobby little Brexiteer. There’s a few of those so not particularly specific.

It does make you wonder why he hasn’t been suspended though.

Seems a Tory MP and ex-Minister who is in his 50s has removed his Twitter and Facebook accounts...

Apparently he never had a twitter account and his facebook account is ‘still live’. All an bit confusing
Irony is, of course, he is trending on twitter

If it is him - little wonder they woudn't stand him down after all the support he has given Johnson

At the same time it would leave the system open to abuse if someone was suspended based on an allegation. As abhorrent as it seems I would imagine plenty would be willing to manipulate politics by making false allegations.

But, everywhere else the person would be suspended
So, not really a vindication of the decision

2nd post (weegord) gives you the clue

I am not that bothered about his suspension in and off itself, however the allegation is from an aide, it makes her job untenable and given that he has been accused it would be sensible for all concerned to suspend him whilst the investigation is on-going. All that said, parliament is now in recess anyway (rightly or wrongly)

The excuse I saw is that by naming the mp people could infer who the aide is. Not sure whether the same decision would occur in any other business or profession.

‘Excuse’ being the operative word
Steven Yaxley Lennon is normally one for ‘outing rapists’
He’s a bit quiet on this one

Apalling hipocrisy from the Party of "Law and Order" and a liar of a Prime Minister, who lets advisors and ministers free to contradict him and make a fool of him any time they like.
The media and the political class talking "privacy" and protecting the victim - something it never did in the last election, when the establishment went into the highest gear to destroy Corbyn.
Any party who allows an alleged rapist to remain on their books and under their whip in Parliament is totally corrupt and has no credibility.
The stench of disdain for the public and conceit is beyond description.

Its appaling that people such as the alleged Tory Rapist remain in positions of power and have access to top secret and classified information ,which effects the Security of everyone in these isles.
They have access to the top people in Government and "friends" in powerful positions - will this be the straw that breaks the camels back or be brushed aside like so much dust on the shelf?
I wonder what the voting majority in that former Ministers constituency will be asking themselves, when their [MP`s] name is written all over the front pages and on their TV screens??

If the alleged rapist was a soldier or member of the territorial army catering corps would they be allowed to continue in post?

As a comparator police officers are often suspended as a consequence of (eventually) unfounded allegations; I'm sure that would have happened in this case too. Its correct to suggest that allegations can often be 'weaponised' in order to cause damage too.

Why the MP in this case should be different is unfathomable.

Imagine a policeman being allowed back on the beat "pending an investigation" or a social worker, or someone who works with people experiencing domestic violence, or a community nurse, or a Consultant.......
One rule for one and one rule for the rest of us.
