Neil Warnock on Brexit: I cannot wait to get out of the EU!

It wasn't as simple as that, your saying everyone who voted tory supported brexit, some put their political beliefs above their feelings on brexit. Some put brexit above all else, which I find hard to understand.

Plenty of people keep saying we didn’t know what Brexit meant when we voted for it. That’s fair enough but the simple fact is if you voted Tory and were a remainer you voted for them knowing that was the only party who would deliver brexit. More fool them

I don't live in the UK but I don't see how it's hypocritical.
First, I have a UK passport and thus a right of abode so what happens could potentially impact me , my kids etc.
Second, I've paid and continue to pay a decent amount of taxes to the UK Govt.
Third, weren't we meant to be taking back control for all British citizens/subjects?
...and what gets me is that I have been disenfranchised for more than 5 years, despite always planning to return home when I retire, so I didn't even get to vote on it.

A "federalised" Europe was never on the cards - if it ever came up, it could have been vetoed.

I don't understand the opposition to a federal Europe anyway. It would be federal in the German sense not the United States model.

Thing is, we could have stopped it. See also the European army that seems to petrify so many brexiteers. We can't now

No the government could have stopped it. Just imagine having a government who doesn’t listen to voters concerns 🤔

UK had a power of veto in relation to the implementation of an EU common defence policy. Any decision not to exercise that right would need the approval of parliament and a referendum on the decision. Government would need the support of both the public and MPs.

A Federalised Europe is sharing the bin with the 76 million Turks who would swamp our borders.

Good one.

Yes, as it would have meant a change to the Treaties, so it would require unanimity, not QMV.

My point really was that people just automatically bristle at the idea without actually realising that it most likely means something very different (and better) than their understanding of the american model.

Turkey being part of the EU then..

Is this the Turkey who are 3% in the their negotiation of Chapters to allow them to join the EU? The same Turkey who have had their negotiations to join the EU suspended on human rights terms for thew past year and a half?

Just so we are talking about the same Turkey...

I often get criticised for calling brexiters uninformed reactionaries . I would say on this evidence, that's unfair

Jesus, tell us what you really think.

Cameron at some point was said to have approved of the idea that if Turkey after they applied and met the qualifications should gain entry. It just happened that at the time he said this when he needed some support from them.
There was never, ever a chance that Germany or France would agree to Turkey being in EU and have said so. Surprised you missed947E973E-E35E-4CF5-BFD0-EF314B565AE1-71775-000042993C40C7EA.jpg the Vote Leave poster

I suspect there has been a whoosh here. Me included! If so: apologies Ziggy!

Amazing how sensitive all these Brexit supporting Tory voters are given they've got everything they want.

An interesting assumption based on no knowledge of how people on here actually voted in the election. What about the Brexit supporting Labour voters like me, there were a fair few of us, I’m sure. Not everyone voting for Brexit voted Tory. Clearly a lot did, but it is sad to attack the democratic (albeit flawed) vote. The reason Labour lost was more to do with the centre ground not stomaching Corbyn and his cronies (imho) than it was to do with their brexit strategy.

At least Corbyn has gone and the party will be electable again in 2024, we can all celebrate that bit of positivity I guess :p who knows, maybe by then if brexit is the disaster remainer‘s fear, which I don’t think it will be, re-entry is always an option. I always find once a decision is made, it is best to pull together to make it work as best we all can rather than squabble about things. Every country has a proportion of its residents who like and disapprove of Government policies. I am more worried about the UK eventually breaking up than I am about the effects of brexit or remain.

Not a problem. The timing of this lie...and everyone involved knew is it was, is the fact that it came towards the end of the campaign when it looked like remain would take it.
Some analysts later looking at the voting intention movements seem to think it could have played a significant part in a Leave voting surge. This wasn't just stuck on billboards to see when you drive pass, but was blitzed across all social media platforms.

Lies pushed using illegal spending to people whose data was illegally obtained and all at the behest of a third party state.....
