Neil Warnock on Brexit: I cannot wait to get out of the EU!

There seems to be an opinion in this country that if logic was applied its a no brainer we should have stayed in the EU, but those of lesser knowledge and intelligence and over 50 voted emotionally to leave or were ticked into voting that way by leaflets, posters and social media messages that told lies.

Although there may be some truth in this, I do not believe this as a general statement. To me there are clearly people in the UK that have relatively gone backwards economically as a result of EU membership and possibly even EEC membership. It takes many years for some policies/activities to have an effect, but the events of the 1980s,1990s. 2000s do effect us today and some effects are still to come. The transfer of economic activity from the industrial and manufacturing regions of the UK to other areas of the EU is one example. Obviously people not directly affected by this generally voted to remain and those directly affected voted leave. The hotbeds of Brexit tend to be former manufacturing regions which have not seen a large influx of service sector employment.

Most of the manufacturing and industry went to the far East, not the EU, apart from car and electronics manufacture, where we were an important way into the EU.

The growth in compensating service sector jobs were primarily in the south or metropolitan regions. Doing little to help replace the industrial jobs lost was the responsibility of HMG, not the EU.

I take issue with the "majority" claim. Very debatable. But that aside it's a light hearted thread that shows just because you might have different views on brexit doesn't mean you can't get behind a common cause. Which makes a nice change.
 
Also if you assess the reasons given for how people voted one can see the substance to certain view points
