Jaime Moreno

I'll definitely contribute, I was a season ticket holder with DC United in the late 90s when Moreno was there along with the mercurial Marco Etcheverry and John Harkes (ex-Sheff Wed).

I was invited to stand in the Barra Bravo (South american fans) section a few times which was mental. They were a good side, I saw them give the Brazilian champions Vasco De Gama (with 8 minor Brazil internationals) a damn good game, beat them over 2 legs.

If I remember correctly he married a lass from Thornaby didn't he?
 
Aw man, he loved his golf. One of my mates brothers used to play with him all the time.

Sad news really.
 
The update on the website makes grim reading. It look likely he’ll lose his eye. That’s awful
 
He was often in Thornaby snooker club. I remember how excited I was when I first saw him at Billingham Town in pre season friendly, he was an exotic overseas player signing at the start of an exciting period. Didn't realise that within a matter of months this type of signing would almost become run of the milll. He was one of the first in the Robbo era though.

Hope he does recover sight, an awful accident playing such a sedate sport.
