Stuani £21M Release Clause

Stuani was not a success for us on the right and why Karanka continued to play him there is a mystery.

We were a far better side when Adomah played on the right.

Stuani has been the most intelligent forward we have had at this club in years. His movement and timing were absolutely top class and he more than had the ability to make fools of any centreback we ever faced. The fact Karanka hardly ever played him there is a mystery. He has shown for Argentina the class he has and to suggest he cant be a number 9 with the record he has is amazing.
Argentina?

Major Karanka failing preferring stuani in the right instead of Adomah, he scored some goals there but generally didn’t contribute creating anything. Played up front in the cups and scored 5 in 3, don’t get why kike and migrant were preferred up front though, Stuani looked decent when played there.

He scored goals, he was employed as a defensive winger with the licence to attack crosses.

It gave us the freedom to plays an attacking winger on the left.

Same when adomah was on the right downing was usually employed as the defensive winger on the left

It what helped leadbitter and Clayton be so formidable

if there is one club who will not be throwing silly fees out for players on the gamble of success it's Leeds. How do you think they ended up in league 1 and outside of the prem for 16 years

I always thought it was more about trying to squeeze another centre forward into the team while still having effectively 5 in midfield. His remit wasn't so much to create but to try and get up alongside the striker when we were on the attack. (Which to be fair might be pretty much what you meant, apologies if so).

Not sure it had much to do with Clayton and Leadbitter's success though. They were just as good the season before when we played plenty of games with Tomlin/Adomah/Bamford/Reach as the wingers.

PS I don't think Downing was employed as a defensive winger. It was just Downing being Downing and playing well within himself as usual. He did exactly the same when played as the number 10. Then Ramirez came and showed him how it was done.

Well it wasn't a major failing. It's about the team and we got 89 points and went up. Massive assumption to assume we'd have done better with him up front.

I don't think he has the speed or athleticism to play up front in the premier League. Ideally suited to Spanish football really.

I am really chuffed for Stuani that he has had such a good couple of seasons.
But he absolutely didn't look great for us.
I'll remember him fondly for being a useful part of the promotion squad and for scoring the important goals v Brighton and at Sunderland. But not for much else.
Good luck to him wherever he goes, but I will be stunned if Leeds drop big money for him, he simply can't play the lone striker role.

Be interesting to see how he does as a CF if he makes the move. I liked him as a CF, pity we barely played him there.

Stuani To Dirty Leeds?
He's 34 in a couple of months, will they really spend that amount on a 34 year old? Madness.

Good player, but not sure if he will do it in the Premier League for a team at the wrong end

Personally speaking, If, and it is an if, Leeds did inquire on Stuani and were told of his release clause, I am fairly sure Leeds will have baulked at that price. At best he has 2 seasons left maybe, I think any club paying more than £5M is being silly.

he was incapable of playing as a number 9 in a 1 striker set up in british footy, he stinks with his back to goal, the spanish game suits him as it's shorter passing and slow tempo and a different style, people who are just dreaming up this crap he was top class english centre forward are deluded and don't understand football, put him back in english footy as a 9 and he would be *****

You better offer your expertise to Leeds then, before they waste any money....
