Britain has just saved £72bn.... German MEP celebrates Brexit as he lays into EU spending plans for coronavirus recovery fund

They may well have been planning exercises- but they were plans to invade their friends, neighbours and allies.
United States Colour Coded War Plans

There were literally dozens of them including War Plan White for another civil war and War Plan Black for war with Germany. They planned these scenarios but that is a long way from putting plans in motion to carry them out. A few years ago the press became aware of them, and we got headlines like yours "USA planned to destroy British Empire" etc. In this country we have always "wargamed" various wars and conflict scenarios, the Germans invented a system called Kriegspiel in which plans were tested/sandboxed.

Of course the USA did actually invade Canada a couple of times most recently in 1812. Amusingly the US decided to build a fort to deter the Royal Navy from approaching the New York shore of Lake Champlain, unfortunately due to a surveying error the fort was built inside Canada. This was not discovered until the US had spent $275,000 on it. Oops.

To me we got involved in WW1, because of the hatred between Germany and France - France was attacked and we went to defend them and Belgium. Even though I am not a big fan of the EU, I accept a success of the EU has been getting Germany and France to stop fighting each other.

No we entered the Great War to protect Belgium ( officially).

“ Great Britain entered World War I on 4 August 1914 when the king declared war after the expiration of an ultimatum to Germany. The official explanation focused on protecting Belgium as a neutral country; ”

It's nice to finally be getting our country back - my family didn't fight and die in the Somme - so we would be ruled by interference by third-parties
I really hope this is a wind up? You can't be like this for real can you?

Also, do you know how EU funds work? Maybe you should find that out and than apologise for your "save £72bn" lie
