Spain back on the UK banned travel list

You are argumentative tonight. There was no danger as the government allowed travel.
Much like you or anyone else going to the pub, a beach or a restaurant in the UK.

On a separate note we’ve decided to pay people if they have to quarantine on returning from Spain.
You follow their rules, they said travel was ok, they flagged it weeks in advance it was ok and then 12 hrs it’s not

What about the people who booked last year and only a few weeks ago got told you are ok to travel. How is it their fault

Shizer. We were due to get the ferry from Portsmouth on 22 Aug! Kids back to school a few days after we get back... looks like we have to cancel

FCO website says different, but believe whichever you choose 🤷
I may have mis-heard or must-read but the FCO advice regarding non-essential travel TO Spain only applies to the mainland. However, COMING BACK the 14 day quarantine applies to travellers from the mainland AND the islands.

That makes sense or you would get a boat to the islands and fly back from there, to circumvent the quarantine

Ingleby, this is from the .gov.uk website.

If you are returning from Spain (including from the Balearics and Canaries) on or after 26 July you will be required to quarantine on your return to the UK, but the FCO is not advising you to cut short your visit. You should contact your tour operator or airline if you have any questions about your return journey.

Why are people flying to Spain? We have had two holidays a year overseas, often to Spain for the last 30 years but ruled out leaving the UK this year as soon as the extent of the pandemic became obvious. The risks are so high and it isn’t a holiday to visit other plague infested countries where we have to live inside masks with exceptionally limited freedoms. I get people were desperate for a few weeks in the sun but it is a huge risk in so many ways and a reintroduction of quarantine on return was bound to happen and needed to be factored into your decision making. Unless you had 4 weeks holiday leave available you should expect your company to not automatically give you a couple of extra weeks off because you chose to visit Spain. Time people faced consequences of their decision making.

In my case, we booked the holiday last August. Got told Spain was fine to travel to. Due to go in 17 days time. FFS!
