Adam Clayton

If you are referring to it because the comment was from Coluka then you really are a sad act.
I didn't "like" or comment on the Hilda Ogden observation because I didn't think it was that funny, but it was also not distasteful. It clearly parodied the headwear, nothing else in a light hearted way.
I doubt Clayts or his missus would have been at all bothered about that line.
I doubt you are either Barnsy; just any opportunity to have a little nark.

And you expect myself and others to believe that. You are also a 'sad act'.

I can understand the Club not offering a new contract - say if AC is on £18k a week and we offer him £6k he's going to think its a big cut. If he goes to a new club and he is offered the same its £6k instead of nothing. Psychologically the second option is better for the player

Like many clubs MFC are looking to players aged 22-25 to buy and increase their value.

The money saved on Clayton could be used for a Ben Gibson loan deal.

Good luck to him. Always gave his all but just doesn't quite have it anymore.

I don't agree to be honest. He's not the player he was but still decent at this level. I don't think it was a coincidence that the improved performances we put in before the covid break coincided with Clayton coming back into the side.

I'd have given him another year and have him as a squad player. He clearly loves the club going off his tweets last night.

It was the comment about "getting her norks out". More in line with COB than here really.
And I thought I was sensitive.
It was a joke.
Comments like 'More in line with COB than here really', 'Poor form', 'Distasteful' etc. are over the top.
It's probably the most risque comment I've ever made on this forum and if you knew me you'd understand that.
There's nothing winds me up more than hypocrites getting offended about words and deeds they've almost certainly uttered themselves at some point.

An absolutely ridiculous defence of your original comment Borofur. Would you say it to her face? Or Adam Clayton's face?

A great servant to the club and probably the Championships best deep lying midfielder for 2 seasons. The club made a complete mess of the Premier league season but Clayton was one of the few players to come out of that season with his head head high in my opinion.

Crudely underrated by Boro fans at times, he had so much more to his game than the 5 yard sideways pass, he was composed on the ball and had a great range of passing.

Things have gone stale for him in the last few years and I think the clubs lack of identity on and off the pitch was part of that. He doesn't look the player he did in 2014/15/16 but it wouldn't surprise me if he was able to recapture some of his form at the right club.

I know he probably won't read this, but Adam if you do. Good luck for the future, you were an excellent player for us and you should leave with your head held high. 👍

'a great servant' - he was paid, very well, to run around the pitch & play footy.. had a good spell under AK alongside Grant, though not is the same calibre as Grant or other notable players, very decent..

No issue with him leaving, it happens contracts end & just very unusual situation this time.. good luck to him, except if he plays us again...

Reasonable player during a time when we just ground out results with very little entertainment, but we were effective as a team.
I was at at Huddersfield when he scored too. Good luck, got a good life in front of him.

That would be all well and good if I was trying to defend my comments but you see, I wasn't.
If you are still offended I suggest you take the conversation off-line and PM me rather than clogging up the board with faux outrage.

You're defending it by saying it was a joke. But again, would you say it to their face?
You talk about being sensitive and offended but then display those exact same traits when someone pulls you up on your crude comment.
As for taking it off line and sending you a pm, don't be so ridiculous.
It's no surprise that there are so few females on this board with crude comments like yours. Just a joke though eh, so that's alright.

He has a point in truth. Looks like the club told him he could go, Howson sending off meant club went back cap in hand and he said no. If that is as it seems then he cant be blamed. His afternoon tweet aside that is
club has already removed him from the squad on the web site.. so cannot even look at player stats for him

No Barnsy, I don't expect you to believe it, or look reasonably at anything I post.
I am confident that lots of others will and do.
And that will do me.
I didn't take it as distasteful TBH, I was surprised it was brought up as such
I think there are far worse things posted that never get mentioned

Come on, I reckon Barnsy didn't register the knotted headscarf.
I'll forgive him this one overreaction because I like him and I hope he likes me!

As for Clayton, he's been a good player for us. Last 2/3 years were a bit up and down
. I remember last season thinking during a game "perhaps he's past it" then he came back and played some great stuff. I don't like knocking Boro players anyway......unlike some I could mention!

What about the poster who had a dig at his young child? That seems to have gone below your radar. I wonder why?

Aww Barnsy, really? Several other posters seem to have understood it was nothing more than a light hearted comment referencing the head scarf. I am sorry that you have taken offence to the post, I didn’t realise you were so delicate

I appreciate you seem to have a personal dislike of me, you have made that very clear many times over the years with your posts. Thats fine, I accept my posts will not always please everyone, as I am sure yours may not either, but thats life as they say, I accept that. It was clearly not meant to offend or disrespect Adam and his lovely wife, but I am sure you are educated reasonably well enough to understand that. It may be an idea for you to use the ignore button, as I would hate for you to take offence at anything you may see posted from me in future, it’s for the best. I am a little surprised that as you found it so offensive, distasteful or pitiful was it, that you chose to repost it mind, but it remains there for all to see with your comment anyway.

As a gesture of goodwill toward you, i have edit the original post as my intentions were honourable and not meant to offend anyone, Including yourself, and least of all a player whom I always held in such high esteem and always defended on here when he got pelters from many fans. Toodle pip Barnsy old bean (y)
