Not a single mask...

They probably just get the fact that they have to wear one in 2 days time, not really the why....same as the people who queue 2 m apart outside the shop because they have to, then just a free for all when they get in.

...worn today in a Sainsbury's. Apart from my own of course.

This is depressing. I hope there aren't too many idiots who kick off when it becomes the law in two days. I do wonder why some people just aren't getting it.

I appreciate there are some that would have difficulty wearing them, like folk with COPD and other breathing problems, but I’ll bet there will be lots not wearing them still, claiming they can’t for some reason, when the likley truth is they just wont comply. I see people on buses not wearing them still and they are supposed to be mandatory.

As you say, it's not law til Friday!

So you don't care if you're asymptomatic and spread it?

Daft question. Of course I wouldn't want to do that. Highly unlikely though, given that I've been locked down, and now the prevelance of the virus in the general population is low. However, until fairly recently masks weren't exactly being pushed were they?

I'm not disputing that they are a good idea.

Given that a large majority haven't been wearing them any time that I've been to the supermarket, I'd be surprised if a majority on here wear them!!

Impossible to police effectively. I'll give it 2 weeks before it is forgotten about as local authorities aren't able to enforce the rules. Lazy Govt "problem solving".

Fines of up to $1,000 here for not complying, with additional penalties on businesses who allow it.

I actually think that from Friday the vast majority will wear them.

It will be a real challenge when it comes to nipping in and out of a shop. I find it hard enough remembering my bag for life- which I now own about 50.

I wonder if there is value in opening a mask shop outside of every supermarket.
It won't be as lots of shops and supermarkets have said they can't or won't enforce it.
Police will be all over the first 7 days then you won't see them as per normal times.

Why not just wear one all of the time to protect everyone else, instead of waiting until its forced? Nothing about the virus suddenly changes on Friday.
I know, this is a totally insane way of looking at it. Have we signed an amnesty with the virus until then? Has there been a ceasefire?

i'll be wearing one from friday without a problem. they are a nightmare for people with geggs though, always fogging up. plus don't have tuna for dinner before putting one on! haha
