BBC 6Music

Finny couldn't disagree with you more. Lauren Laverne for me is a consummate music journalist and radio broadcaster. Very engaging and love listening to her show. Some would say why listen to radio these days - play Spotify. That would be a mistake in my opinion. I like to hear varied opinion, new musical tastes and engagement on the chat as well.

LL also does a fantastic job on Desert Island Discs and llisten to the shorterned versions every night. Her style of interviews is spot on and entices her guests open up in such a kind and effective way and they do so with some emotion too. I urge anyone to listen to her interview with Ian Wright on DID. Also thia week if tou can listen to her interview with Helen Fielding when they discuss her personal sadness with her best friend and husband dying within months of each other. Powerful radio.

I listen to Marc Riley pretty much every night, he rarely plays a bad tune, I occasionally listen to Tom Robinson he is class, overall it’s by far the best station.

I listen to Marc Riley most nights too.

He's great, but might benefit from some sort of quota being imposed when it comes to mentioning David Bowie (who was also great.)

Or the fact that he used to be in The Fall ;)

He's great, and having met him and Mark Radcliffe a few times over the years I can confirm they're every bit as genuine in real life as they seem on the radio.

I’ve liked the covid-related change in schedule times to give Chris Hawkins longer in the mornings. Before my commute was him asking for a listener song to play, then LL doing the same. So poor content.

lamacq needs shuffling off to X Radio.

Lamacq is one of the best on the channel. Plays decent music what more can you ask.

Listened to Thomas James Dalglish Ravenscroft a couple of weeks ago. He is not his dad. Sadly.

In what respect ?

I actually think he ticks lots of the same boxes as his dad:-

Love of music - tick
Willingness to take risks and play unheard of music - tick
Doesn't try to force his personality too much into the show - tick

I think any comparisons with his dad are really unfair, and probably why he downplays the mentions of him somewhat. Peel was one of a kind, and simply trying to copy him would not work either.

I agree with that.

Is he another one of your mates, along with Riley, Ratcliffe and Peter Sagan?

Tom Ravenscroft's show is the one I generally listen to later if I didn't catch it live. I'll usually hear something the like of which I've never heard before - which is good thing.

Late 1970s John Peel will always be a cherished memory for me - he offered the chance to hear stuff you (quite literally) couldn't hear anywhere else. I've been going through some old home recorded C90s recently and the sound of his voice takes me right back to being a 15yr old lad obsessed with music.

His son is very different, but so is the music and broadcasting landscape. I think he does a great job and shows some of the great characteristics of his dad.

No, no she doesn't - she's single handedly ruined a British broadcasting institution

I can't stand her - so far up her own @rse it's embarrassing, but she's "trendy" and the sheep will follow her

There you have it, anyone who likes LL is a sheep and just doing it to be trendy - conversation over.

It is possible to give an opposing opinion without condescending those who feel differently.

I don’t know why people feel the need to be so dismissive of people’s opinions. Is it to gain some strange feeling of superiority?

The wider the scope of music the better as far as I'm concerned - it's what 6music should be about.

I'm not sure the pre-Covid shake up of the schedule quite worked though.

Oh ... and Shaun Keaveny is very, very hard to listen to.

One more thing ... Nimone is great, but Nimone's mid-afternoon meditation isn't.
That meditation bit stresses me out! :D
