BBC 6Music

I must admit my listening hours have dropped off a lot this year and it's all down to the recent line-up changes :( I like Mary Ann Hobbs but she's totally suited to nighttime or Sunday morning shows. She just doesn't have any presence for a mid-morning slot. I now call her Whispering Mary Ann Hobbs. Don't get me going on Shaun Keaveny either! I appreciate many may like him but why he doesn't just hurry up and take up what would obviously be his preferred career option as a stand-up I'll never know. I wish he'd get on with it though. To think he took the Radcliffe & Maconie slot; the mind boggles!

The Hawk is still my wake up/drive to work show. I really like him and his taste in music. Like most of you, I can't do with MAH. Guy Garvey, Huey, Iggy are great and I've even grown to like Craig Charles' show recently.
Radcliff and Maconie on lazy weekend mornings are pretty easy to listen to. I scarcely listen to any other radio station these days.

The wider the scope of music the better as far as I'm concerned - it's what 6music should be about.

I'm not sure the pre-Covid shake up of the schedule quite worked though.

Oh ... and Shaun Keaveny is very, very hard to listen to.

One more thing ... Nimone is great, but Nimone's mid-afternoon meditation isn't.

I’ve liked the covid-related change in schedule times to give Chris Hawkins longer in the mornings. Before my commute was him asking for a listener song to play, then LL doing the same. So poor content.

lamacq needs shuffling off to X Radio.
used to love it bit too much hip hop and dance for me now, and the DJ's are bit too radio one but maybe i am just showing my age being an old punk. The Iggy pop show is brilliant btw

MAH has she mentioned she interviewed Bowie Once? Her interviews are dreadful. But overall its better than most Radcliffe and maconie is still a good listen, better still when its just radcliffe, enjoy marc riley, tom robinson and guy garvey too. if your looking for another station KEXP is a good shout

Hobbs is at best a late night / zombie morning shift type. I still listen to if driving (scare of late) or play back Radcliffe and Maconie when walking. As above Marc Riley still playes soime great new stuff and sessions, and sunday afternoons with Guy Garvey can be a joy when he's on form.

Right now the rest (to me) are at best mundane and atworst irritating.

MAH sat in for Gid Coe a while back and was pretty good I thought. When she just plays good music and keeps it simple, she's great.

All of that ultra sincere fake fawning bollox isn't necessary.

Cheers Ziggy although I actually prefer Coltrane and nutty avant garde stuff :geek:
There's a lot of that too. They've just played a couple of Sun Ra tracks, and Don Cherry and some Ornette Coleman.
Depends what time of (their) day you tune in. There's another good station in Boston.

LL is part of the problem - vacuous personality and put on the breakfast show for demographic reasons.

It is the only station I listen to.
Enjoy The Hawk, Keaveney
Mary Ann Hobbs has introduced me to some different music
Lamaq is just Lamaq

If I’m ever driving late at night Gideon Coe is outstanding.

Saturday (til 11) and Sunday morning is a delight
