Face masks

Muttley has you banged to rights there @Alvez_48 maybe you should have read the whole thread and realised we specifically WEREN't talking about N95 masks before your extended internet search and copy and pasting.

My extensive search being clicking on privs link 2 comments up and reading the article therein, banged to rights? You're absolutely bonkers ST like seriously.

Mutley there is absoloutely no proof that wearing a face mask limits the spread of the disease. There are some studies that suggest it does and some that suggest it doesn't and even a few that say they are counter productive. So no there is no proof.
Which studies? I agree we should have scientific evidence but you can't argue (though, as is the norm for this place, some will) that countries with high mask use have far lower transmission and death rates than those without.

Also, you can actually prove it yourself We all know that the virus is spread through water droplets. Try fogging up a mirror with your breathe. Now trying fogging up the same mirror, in the same location, with the same humidity, whilst wearing a mask. Congratulations, You've just proven that wearing a mask limits water droplet spread and by extension, coronavirus spread.

good that you can go on the attack, and completely ignore the fact you copied and pasted an article about a type of mask we specifically said we weren't talking about. Bit of a waste of time really.

Did the quote say "How's this for you" or was that you?

That was me, sir. As in how's this for you in terms of evidence for the contrary.

Please provide just one single study that concludes that facemasks prevent the transmission of covid 19.

There is good solid proof that it limits the spread.

Of course, you can "google" and find proof that it doesn't. Knock yourself out.
Wait, so your basically saying those reports with solid proof that they do limit the spread are the only reports that matter? Even though I've literally just read a report that a mask is a proven to reduce the oxygen levels on my blood that report doesn't count?

N95 is mentioned repeatedly in this thread and the same will apply to any other tight fitting mask or surgical mask which has similar specification to a N95 it's stated in the full article you Muppet. I'm out, you think people should wear masks till are diseases are eradicated. 🤣🤣🤣

I assume you mean the report that Alves quoted? No, it proves that you didn't understand what you read. It was talking about the use of N95 and other masks used in surgery.

Alvez post.

Sorry but even I know a lack of oxygen in the blood is bad for your health.

If people want to wear a mask that's fine. I wear one at work because we have to due to the guidelines that enable us to open. I haven't been to any shops since march apart from the corner shop in the next street so quite happy to continue getting other bits delivered either by Amazon or supermarket home delivery.

Man you are stupid. I'm feeling generous though so I'll explain it to you in detail. Hopefully even you can understand. We SPECIFICALLY said we weren't talking about surgical mask or N95 masks, merely cloth covering that prevented droplets containing coronavirus being spread.

I actually said we should wear masks until any disease that has no vaccine, no known cure, and hasn't been properly studied by medical science is rife in the population.

As you seem to be too slow to work out to what I was referring: I meant covid-19.

You're welcome.

The report is about N95 rated and other surgical masks which are fitted tightly to eliminate the inhalation of unfiltered air. Not a disposable mask of the type most used and certainly not the re-usable cotton type ones.

The Alvez post with no citations?

The Alvez post about surgical masks that, again, we aren't talking about? THAT Alvez post?

So will a cloth mask stop me 100% from possibly catching the virus by breathing it in?

No, it won't stop you catching the virus but your mask helps stop me catching the virus and my mask helps stop you catching the virus.

I'm often the only one in the loacal shop wearing a mask, even the staff have stopped wearing them. Unfortunately it seems the majority of people in Teesside refuse to wear one.

On twitter there are doctors wearing masks all day updating their blood / oxygen levels with no notable difference. You can breathe in your own exhaled air and survive for about 5-6 minutes with no fresh oxygen (Rebreather on helicopter escape sets).

Did you see the latest cranks theory? The metal in the face mask that bends over your nose is actually a 5G transmitter.
