Burnley are unlikely to recall club-record signing Ben Gibson from exile despite possessing only two fit central defenders.
Sean Dyche’s injury concerns worsened over the weekend when captain Ben Mee was ruled out for the remainder of the season with a thigh problem...........

Only a dramatic shift in circumstances would see Gibson’s return, however, after a breakdown in relationship with the club earlier this season.
The 27-year-old has made just one league appearance for the Clarets since a £15million move from Middlesbrough two years ago and quickly became frustrated with a lack of opportunities.
That came to a head this season when disagreements with staff saw Gibson train away from the club. .......................

The former England Under 21 international had been training with boyhood club Boro under Jonathan Woodgate, although that arrangement is understood to have come to an end.......

Not for one minute will he return to Boro - not on 40K a week.
Frankly he would be the stone in the horse`s hoof in the rebuild of the squad for next season.

Such a bizarre situation.

It has to be some sort of deeply personal falling out between Dyche and Gibson.

Clearly his Burnley career is over. I think Gibson wants to come back here, but Burnley will want some of the transfer fee back (we can't afford that), or to send him on loan for a year with his wages fully paid, we can't afford that either. Gibson might be playing hardball saying he will only leave for Boro, or he'll pick up his wages and see his contract out. It would seem his relationship with Dyche is that bad, that this could rumble into next season

Its a shame.
The lad is between a rock and a hard place.
Like hes been hung out to dry.
Could he / would he negotiate an agreement with Burnley to terminate his contract?
Its not doing Ben any good and its costing a fortune in wages.
Crackers.

I'm not in anyway clued up on the subject, but would Ben Gibson have a case to terminate his contract if he wanted to?

I would think Ben Gibson could terminate his contract if he wanted. It seems he won't play for Burnley again so presumably the club would be happy to let him walk away because it'll save them a load of money. On the other hand, why would he? He's being paid loads of money for the duration of his contract.

He'd probably only consider tearing up his contract if he gets a similar deal somewhere else.

Can pay up his last 12 months can't he and walk? I've mentioned before on here, but I'll be fairly annoyed if we have run down the majority of our senior pros contracts and decimated the squad in order to bring him back on loan next season and cover a good chunk of his salary. He's simply not worth it for a club in our position with our our other major failings.

Jesus, he really has ruffled feathers to be persona non grata like this?! What did he do to warrant this? Crazy situation.

I recall Bamford saying that Dyche had a real chip on his shoulder about him being a posh lad given things on a plate and accused him of not knowing how to work for things.

Perhaps he had a similar attitude with Gibson; chairman's nephew given an easy run so he had to call him out on things.

Either way, it's stalled a promising career and wasted a lot of money he tells us all he hasn't got.

Someone posted a couple of weeks ago that Ben was trying to sort a transfer / loan to another club as he wasn't playing.

Dyche got wind of it and brought him in for a dressing down about speaking to other clubs whilst under contract being unprofessional/unacceptable, whereby Ben got his phone out and showed Dyche his texts to Ben doing the same when he was at boro.

Dyche went ballistic, Ben got shunted off.....

I have no further info, all hearsay obviously and it may well all be boIIocks. Can't remember who posted it, sounded plausible at the time.

We obviously don't know whats happened.... but if Ben has said he will play and for whatever reason he isn't being selected

Sit out the bloody contract and take the money..... that's Burnley's issue IF he has said he will play

That's interesting and poor form from him if it's true. I mean, how 'posh" is bamford? If the criteria is purely going to a public school then that must put most footballers kids in the posh bracket

Thumbface is still narked about the semi final. Gibson, Bamford the spat with Karanka. Hell he even ruined Jelle Vossens chances of making it over here. I'm just thankful he didn't have the cash to sign Traore.

I think the fact that Bamford is well spoken, articulate and creative doesn't sit well with a Neanderthal like Dyche!

Grandad owns JCB, the B is for Bamford. Still crap by Dyche if the story is as it has been reported
