Steve Gibson Deserves League One

To say Steve G deserves league one is a total insult, yes we are hurting at the moment but this is the man who:

Has given us a new fully paid for stadium
3 major Domestic cup finals
1 major European cup final
1 Domestic cup victory
A number of world class players
A number of other top players
Pumped in millions of pounds and still doing so.
Just think about that and Boro, it doesn't really go together but he made it possible.

In all the years before you could only have ever of dreamt of that, on one would have thought it possible.
Maybe we will end in league one again but he doesn't deserve it and has given 1000's of people some of the best football times of their lives.
He is as big a fan as anyone on here and he will be hurting too, he cares, perhaps he cares too much.
I'm not from the area but I think people should be extremely proud of what he has achieved and how he continues to bank roll the club.
If I was a multi million football would be the last place I would put my money, I'd just sit in an executive box or in the stands and have a go like everyone else because it's so simple to run a club, that's why the vast majority fail year after year, there I no guaranteed success formula.
Keep strapped in for the ride.
Ultimately it's only football, don't forget what we have all just been through and continue to go through.

Cracking post👍
TBH I wanted Woody to be our manager after listening to his interview & how he wanted us to play, yes talk is cheap & it never worked out, maybe I would think Gibson was under the same opinion, probably the same impact as under Karanka
Someone also mentioned Gibson losing interest, which I totally disagree with also, no manager is guaranteed success at any club
If Gibbo has a fault its not having a football person alongside him to influence him on potential signings, just my opinion mind
Looking at this points that Corco65 posted shows what magnificent periods we have witnessed, I bang on about our ASC triumph & 1973-74 but nothing compared to what I've witnessed at the Rivetside
Come what may the Boro do deserve what they get at the end of the season, but my gripe will be aimed at the heartless, passionate displays of the players, not Gibbo

I understand that Gibson cares about the club and that he's propped us up financially over the years.

However, I believe that he's taking us down to the 3rd tier and rather than a quick return I think we're more likely to spend a decade in that division like Coventry.

The club is going nowhere with him making footballing decisions. I know without him the club might not exist but with him all we'll ever do from now on is exist, the days of competing (even at this level) are long gone.
Utter tosh

pulis wouldn't have had us top ten, I'm 100% convinced of that. He may have kept us up, but I'm far from convinced.
This is a disgraceful squad made up of poor players that we have over paid for and overpay.
What makes it worse is that they clearly do not care and do not even play to their limited potential.

Recruitment should include consideration of the character of the players; ours are a disgrace.

Do not forget the role pulis had for 18 months shaping the squad. The signing of Saville, McNair and Flint are every bit as bad as monk's lunacy in signing Assombolonga, Fletcher, Shotton, Johnson and woodgate's idiocy in signing Dijksteel, Bola, Brown and that "goalkeeper".

This is a spectacularly bad squad and every bit as bad as anything I've seen since I first went in the very late 60's. Technically awful, but the most gutless bunch of mercenaries I've seen play for us.

I am really critical of Gibson since the summer of 2016, but he does not deserve League 1 and relegation.
He has made incredibly bad decisions and employed a disastrous string of people in key positions, but he has continued to finance an operation that should at the very least finish in the top ten in terms of budget.
The players, assorted coaching teams, the recruitment shambles and the executive team should hang their heads in shame at the pitiful way they have used the Middlesbrough FC budget and resources.

There needs to be a wholesale clear out and re-structure of this shambles of a Club. Players; Recruitment/Scouting; Exec team.
Nobody is going to buy this set up that has far less than zero value; and Gibson won't just walk away.
To use Mowbray's much used expression "It is what it is".
As fans there is literally nothing we can do.
At this point there isn't anything that Gibson can do.
I'd have thought professional pride would eventually kick in with the players, but I'm afraid I don't think it will.
Indeedido competing with Coluka in essay length monologues about how they know best (without any financial risk of course!)

Agree with all of this. We are where we are because of the people entrusted to follow through on the strategy of any given season since Karanka left have not been up to the job. Too many people comfy at their desks using the club to put their feet up. Gibson has got to pull his head out of the sand come what may when the season ends.

Well look at the amount he has likely put in since 2006, look at the failures v successes that we know of, look at the likely ongoing financial cost to him perish the thought, with relegation that just gets worse. He would clearly own the club still. He would decide the Chairman. Maybe, just maybe, being a fan and so closely involved as such, and also the financial worry, clouds judgements when he tries to balance losses with change. I can’t imagine how difficult and personal that must be. He can’t ever be dispassionate about the team, he can’t ever seperate his financial worry. Nobody believes he has anything but the clubs best interests at heart. I believe Woody did too, but if something isn’t working you have to see the woods for the trees.

We all love Steve Gibson, we all want him to achieve and be successful, the issue as I see it is, the one real positive period we had since 2006 was under Karanka, that was when Kenyon was advising him as far as I can see, that can’t be a coincidence surely, now can it?

Hopefully, less pressure day to day, a better run club, greater financial stability Is in it for him. I accept there are no guarantees.
Coluka letting Indeedido know who's boss when it comes to lengthy "I know best" sermons!

Oh really, don’t be so silly, thats just you choosing to interpret things that way when that is absolutely NOT what I am saying. What part of it‘s his club, his funding, his profit and loss whatever happens, whether the status quo remains or someone comes in like a Kenyon or a Levy. Mr Gibson would hire and fire such a person.

Baying for blood ffs, really? You went there o_O By suggesting areas and ways for possible change, clear areas of things that the club might look at to improve Its plight and you call it baying for blood, laughable
You're so full of schit Col, sorry, I mean your so full of yourself.

Of course we deserve league one, you get what you deserve in football and that is what is happening to us. No way you can run a club this badly and expect anything else than relegation.

Gibson has appointed 2 of Pogs choices, Pulis who bought tripe and bored us to tears, and now Warnock who seems to be bewildered. I hope he can fluke it with any luck. Its a good job we have Gibson, we`ll need him.

Pulis who got us in the play-offs and held the club together despite having to sell our best players and having to accept garbage as replacements from the pathetic recruitment team that are still here today.

Oh but of course our fans knew better, anyone could do better. Enter Woodgate.

Now he appoints Warnock, to take over a season our worst ever manager has destroyed with only a month to save the club from relegation.

Before anyone plays the hindsight card, this whole mess was all entirely predictable.

On the day the clown was appointed...

hopeless can't read complete sentences, much less form them.

Steve Gibson has actually not put anything into the club since 2016. That is a fact as I have previously covered and is clear in the Company's Accounts.
You have to be all in with Gibson for some people. Thankfully however most of us can think for ourselves and realise he did brilliantly from 1993 until 2006 and has had a nightmare ever since. The debt he guarantees is there because of what he has done.
I really really don't think he deserves League 1 for his club at all, given the budget he has approved. It should enable top ten in this league. He has appointed appallingly. Anyone who disagrees with that is simply in denial.
The Execs, Managers, Recruitment/Scouts, Players he has personally approved the appointment of, are the reason why the club is where it is.
He will be gutted when we go down. He will be right to feel sore at many people. But he has to accept it is his responsibility because he has all the power and makes all the decisions.

I think Woodgate just wanted to take a gamble on Morrison because we became complacent, believing we were safe after those 4 wins in a row. Same with Nmecha, I think the idea was if he does well during his loan spell we could maybe see about trying to loan him the following season as well.

I remember many were happy for us to take the gamble but I remember myself saying we should be going all out to try and sign Billy Sharp on loan. There was a feeling amongst some supporters that it would be a waste of time as we were already safe, and we needed to be playing players who realistically would still be here the following season - building for the future. Hindsight's a great thing I suppose.

If he has put no £ in since 2016 who has been paying the wages?

For every Brentford there is a Wigan, for every Wolves there is a Sunderland.

The fat lady still has a few tunes to play.

I believe Indeedido has secretly been funding the club for several years......and this is all gonna come out soon, with massive P and S issues to answer for.
