    Mechanic/garage for brakes

NC all I offered was suggestions,. I never dismissed what you said at all, I only argued my points no more than that. No right or wrong in my posts. Who was It that suggested that 'Everything I posted was b***ks'. I could have flounced, responded in kind but that is not the way I conduct myself...

    Mechanic/garage for brakes

It is clear that some people on here cannot except the fact that other views have some credence. And the sooner N.C realises that the better man he will be for it. There you go, at least you know what it is that has to be done and I asssume are safe to continue using the car. There is quite a...

    Mechanic/garage for brakes

Actually when it comes to spending my cash I am very careful to weigh up the pros and cons.Having a service plan on a vehicle can work out good value, but you have to know what you are getting for that. From my early days of fixing my own cars, pulling parts from scrappies in South Bank...

    Mechanic/garage for brakes

I replied to this thread because I didn't think he should have been so dismissive of places like Kwikfit/Halfords just on price. I've given reasons , thats it in a nutshell. As for warranty, yes you are quite right. But try proving that the independant did everything he should have done before...

    Mechanic/garage for brakes

Well I have my own experiences and views on the matter, you have yours and so does the o.p. which I do respect. It's clear the o.p does not have the knowledge to check the car himself or choses not to, to determine the best course of action. My suggestion was to find out what is wrong then go...

    Mechanic/garage for brakes

I would never say it's a waste of time to have your brakes checked out, when you can nip in to Kwikfit and get a mechanic to tell you pretty quickly whats wrong with it. Thats what they do along with tyres and exhausts. I wonder how many people have been ripped off by Independants? All I can...

    Mechanic/garage for brakes

The point I'm making is that you can go to two places I suggested who will carry out a safety inspection and tell you whats wrong and what needs changing if you ask them. Compare what they say and make an informed decision and talk to someone who knows cars. Independants are great, good ones you...

This happening for anyone else on this board?

Hey just because I live in Eaglescliffe, that shouldn't be held against me ;-). Seriously it's taken me 1/2 dozen goes to get in and post this reply, maybe 15minutes bl88dy madness.

This happening for anyone else on this board?

Ah so that was why I had that rouge X. My issues with this site is the time it take to boot it up and navigate. It's really, reeeeeeally slow! I'm not techie, haven't a scooby as to what to do apart than wait. Some days I just can't be bothered which is a shame because this forum is pretty...

    Mechanic/garage for brakes

Good suggestion, problem is you don't know what is causing the problem. Leaves scope to be ripped off for the unwary. Go to Kwikfit/Halfords and ask them to have a look and get a quote before going the EuroCarParts route.

NHS Dentistry as we know it ‘gone for good’

Thanks for that insight. It appears to be a no win position unless you downsize your practice and de-select patients who repeatedly fail to turn up or the government compensate you for this. When my previous dentist retired and his practice was taken over there was going to be a selection...

NHS Dentistry as we know it ‘gone for good’

I actually wanted to hear it from somebody in the job what he saw as the underlying issues with the contract. Saying it's not fit for purpose doesn't tell me anything. And saying they are not paid enough could be an answer most of the working population would give particulaly if the government...

NHS Dentistry as we know it ‘gone for good’

So can you briefly explain what the problem is with the NHS contract. As for people missing appointments, can you not remove patients who do not turn up without reason? I get a reminder of appointemnts. If a patient can't be bothered why should you be. I know it's a bad thing to think or even...

Can anyone explain the logic of SUV vehicles?

Well I drive a Honda CRV, it's probably the most comfortable car I have owned. It's easy to get in and out of, lots of boot space and reasonably economical. It's a hybrid so less poluting in some urban situations. It pulls away in 4WD and when road conditions require it to, it will remain in...
