I own two EVs and I'm driving to France in one next week, but my initial thought here is to go petrol. I'm sure it would actually work out fine and if you could charge at the place you're staying then it wouldn't be a problem, but why have the worry when you're on holiday?
They definitely did this on Teesside. In the first few months I was paying a few pence for certain journeys and I even think they paid me for a couple of journeys.
And of course they do nothing about it themselves. I'm not sure why all these people aren't employed at executive level by local authorities up and down the country if it's so easy to get right.
RIP Diogo. Horrendous news. I lost my brother in a car accident in Italy when he was only 29. This brings it all back and I'm thinking very much of his wider family - the pain is unthinkable. So sad.
Maybe most are smart now but when I got mine that wasn't the case. There were some just plug and charge / maybe set a charge schedule in the app or car.
Re something like octopus intelligent go tariff then only certain charges - "smart" might not be the correct term - will work with it...
I'd probably opt for a smart one to take advantage of intelligent go type tariffs. I have an ohme pro which does the trick.
I also prefer tethered charges so you're not messing around with the cables every time you charge.
