    * Boro Classic: Boro 3 N`Castle 1: Whyte / Beck / Ravanelli - Nov 1996 *

    I think we were defensively lacking but don’t forget we got to two cup finals and only the 3 points deduction took us down. Despite the knockers some of the best football played by a Boro team in my lifetime.

    Quality football, look at Juninho’s driving from the midfield trying to create things and Ravanelli’s movement pulling the defence around to make space. There was no tippy tappy safe ponderous play in that team.

    German Clubs targeting young British talent

    Just another symptom of the English game being very sick at the top level because of foreign ownership and focus on business models rather than football.

    Labour is now the party of the wealthy

    Only the principle of the welfare state, the NHS and the state pension are safe in Labour hands. They are safe in the Tories only because they know they have to keep them. The working class hero Farage would get rid of all of them tomorrow if he could to cut taxes for the rich. The...

    I know they are a ‘problem’ for a few reasons but in fairness to anyone 65 plus they are no longer able to take the economic strain of the country. I think the real issue is the few million of working age and capability who are happy to sit on benefits and not care where the money is coming from.

    We do but it’s the millions of people of normal working age who are costing a fortune by not making a contribution and finding an excuse to be on benefits. And I’m not on about those who physically or mentally are not capable of working, they are the ones who need the support. Personally I...

    Yes maybe I was wrong to say that, fair comment, but there is a lot of moaning goes on in this country, a lot of strange voting behaviour and a lot of people who want something for nothing all the time. We need to be careful where these people are taking us.

    I completely agree with you but imagine if Tesco upped their wages and then their prices, because that is what would happen, the food banks would be stripped overnight. From your figures above 6.3m includes nearly 4m who don’t work, that is a staggering number of people who are not active. We...

    1,000 people per day are joining the welfare system that the working tax payers have to pay for. 1,000 people extra per day sat on their backsides contributing nothing and being paid for by others. It’s colossal and a UK problem. Totally unsustainable and putting the politics to one side as...
